‘Oops,’ Said Faceberg (Part Infinity)

Our Failed Social Media

So lifelike.

Facebook employees have demanded answers from Mark Faceberg on what the company will do if Lord Damp Nut tries to use the platform to undermine the election results, NBC reports:

Facebook has allowed conservative news outlets and personalities to repeatedly spread false information without facing any of the company’s stated penalties, according to leaked materials reviewed by NBC News.

According to internal discussions from the last six months, Facebook has relaxed its rules so that conservative pages, including those run by Breitbart, former Fox News personalities Diamond and Silk, the nonprofit media outlet PragerU and the pundit Charlie Kirk, were not penalized for violations of the company’s misinformation policies.

Faceberg has offered no clear response, but the company has fired an engineer who internally pointed out that right-wing pages were receiving special treatment that let them keep posting misinformation.

Individuals that spoke out about the apparent special treatment of right-wing pages have also faced consequences. In one case, a senior Facebook engineer collected multiple instances of conservative figures receiving unique help from Facebook employees, including those on the policy team, to remove fact-checks on their content. His July post was removed because it violated the company’s “respectful communication policy.”

After the engineer’s post was removed, the related internal “tasks” he’d cited as examples of the alleged special treatment were made private and inaccessible to employees, according to a Workplace post from another employee.

“Personally this makes me so angry and ashamed of this company,” wrote the employee in support of their colleague.

The engineer joined the company in 2016 and most recently worked on Instagram. He left the company on Wednesday. One employee on an internal thread seen by BuzzFeed News said that they received permission from the engineer to say that the dismissal “was not voluntary.”

I don’t know how to interpret any of this other than to say that Facebook (the company) is in the bag for Prznint Stupid, and is going to be instrumental in getting the orcs and minions agitated over “the rigged election.”

Back on July 30th, I got slammed inna FB hoosegow for 30 days, for using “Hate Speech” that offended someone. I posted a meme that declared “If tRump is defeated, I bet he totally trashes the White House before departing; he’s literally nothing but white trash.”

Now, I can see how a few might be offended by that remark, (hello? Possum Hollar?) but I had assumed we were all of a like mind in the group I commented in. Always seems to be one in the bunch, though.

After that engineer left I wonder if Facebook is now completely rotten from stem to stern.

TG – it’s weird, coz at first, I was going through withdrawals, but now I’m over that, as I had much more pressing, important matters to attend to, like working out some serious health issues. But lately, I just kinda do a “drive-by,” to see what my friends are up to, and it doesn’t have the same appeal as when I was “hooked,” and on a steady diet of FB Bromides, and the most excellent medical and scientific advice available in this day & age.
