Criming in Plain Sight

This machine kills fascists Art by Mike Shine (H/T @cgerrish on the Twitter)

Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer met with Lord Damp Nut’s new henchman Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and put in writing his confirmation (Fair Warning! PDF) that he had  instituted “reductions of overtime availability, restrictions on extra mail transportation trips, testing of new sorting and delivery policies at hundreds of Post Offices, and the reduction of the number and use of processing equipment at mail processing plants.”

The result of which “now threaten the timely delivery of mail — including medicines for seniors, paychecks for workers, and absentee ballots for voters.”

As Scissorhead MDavis says, deliberately slowing down the mail is illegal, but I would not hold my breath that AG Bill Barr is going to take action against a co-conspirator in the overthrow of (allegedly) our gubmint.

But can this crook (his portfolio is stuffed with conflicts of interest) hide behind plausible deniability? He’s a business guy trying to run the USPS (a service) like a business:

Postal Service overhauls leadership as Democrats press for investigation of mail delays

“Postmaster General Louis DeJoy unveiled a sweeping overhaul of the nation’s mail service, displacing the two top executives overseeing day-to-day operations, according to a reorganization memo released Friday. The shake-up came as congressional Democrats called for an investigation of DeJoy and the cost-cutting measures that have slowed mail delivery and ensnared ballots in recent primary elections.

“Twenty-three postal executives were reassigned or displaced, the new organizational chart shows. Analysts say the structure centralizes power around DeJoy, a former logistics executive and major ally of President Trump, and de-emphasizes decades of institutional postal knowledge. All told, 33 staffers included in the old postal hierarchy either kept their jobs or were reassigned in the restructuring, with five more staffers joining the leadership from other roles.

“The reshuffling threatens to heighten tensions between postal officials and lawmakers, who are troubled by delivery delays — the Postal Service banned employees from working overtime and making extra trips to deliver mail — and wary of the Trump administration’s influence on the Postal Service as the coronavirus pandemic rages and November’s election draws near.”

It’s happening out in the open, people. They are stealing the election before it is even held.

I’m so angry that I could spit nails. I’ve seen our own mail service crippled in the past few months. We used to get something in the mailbox literally every day. Now we go days without anything. I mailed some student custom orders out, just as I always have, and they’ve run days late. One customer emailed to ask if I had even mailed her order yet, when I had mailed it a week earlier. And it took three more days for it to get to her.

This is criminal. This goes beyond deliberately stalling the mail; it’s an effort to break the Postal Service so mailing ballots will be difficult, if not impossible. This is part of the original Trump Team’s plan to burn down our government, wrecking it from the inside. And guess what! They’re doing it and nobody can stop them.

How can we stop this if the only way to stop it is by voting the fuckers out? If they block the election, how do we vote them out? We’re in for a major showdown and we haven’t even seen what Barr’s got in his back pocket.

    Red flags everywhere.

All, part of his master plan: Destroying all branches of government from the interior is basic to Suckface implementing his dictatorship. That way, when he loses in November, there’ll be no resistance to his declaring martial law, and staying in power for the rest of his life, or until Donnie, Jr. succeeds him. If he succeeds, our democracy will never see its 245th birthday. My 45 AmRev patriot ancestors are spinning in their graves!

I’m going the early voting route. Relatively safe* and a pretty good chance my vote will actually count.

*Yes, mail-in is safer (and more convenient) but I ran the ol’ risk/benefit calculation and this is what I came up with.

Seriously, check your county’s website for the location of drop boxes. Almost every county has some.

I have a drop box about a 10 min. walk from my house at the Civic Center. I wonder whether Trump and this “joyless“ arsehole have thought through the implications of this de facto no mail/seriously delayed mail trick.

Rural people not only depend heavily on mail-in voting because of the distance to voting centers but also because many are old and/or sick or disabled (and I’m just talking about white people). Also, rural mail service is primarily contracted out to local people. These are all (or mostly Trump voters). The entire Tump family votes by mail.

By contrast, a large proportion of Democratic voters live in or near cities and probably have ready access to a vote drop-off center. The locations of these places should all be heavily advertised well before the actual election.
