‘Oops,’ Said Faceberg (Part Infinity)

So lifelike.

A quick lightning round of Facebook in the news before Comcast continues their daily mischief! (I’ll keep adding to this until I cannot – the truck is outside!)

Fact-check of viral climate misinformation quietly removed from Facebook

“…The article, authored by Michael Shellenberger and published on The Daily Wire, uses 12 “facts” to argue that concern about climate change is overblown. Shellenberger’s piece was reviewed by seven Ph.D. climate scientists as part of a process organized by Science Feedback, one of Facebook’s fact-checking partners. The scientists determined that Shellenberger’s article was “partly false.”

“As a result, the distribution of the article on Facebook’s platform was reduced. Facebook users who posted The Daily Wire article were also warned they were about to share “partly false” information and given a link to Science Feedback’s analysis. This is how the fact-checking process is supposed to work.

“But then, without explanation, the fact-check was removed. If a Facebook user attempts to share the article today, there is no warning and no link to the fact-check. Shellenberger’s piece, on The Daily Wire and elsewhere, has now been shared over 65,000 times on Facebook.

Internal Facebook documents obtained by Popular Information reveal that, prior to the removal of the fact-check, Science Feedback’s fact-check of The Daily Wire article was brought to the attention of top Facebook executives including VP of Global Affairs and Communications Nick Clegg, VP of Global News Partnerships Campbell Brown, and VP of Global Public Policy Joel Kaplan. The documents also show that Facebook was asked by the office of Congressman Mike Johnson (R-LA), a powerful member of Republican leadership, to reverse the fact-check.

If you look up those Facebook executives you will learn:

  • Nick Clegg, is a British former politician who served as Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2010 to 2015 denies Russia had any involvement in the UK elections, and specifically that Facebook was not used. He also was shocked —shocked I say!— by the Cambridge Analytica data scandal.
  • Campbell Brown is a school choice enthusiast and has been working to weaken teachers unions.
  • Joel Kaplan worked for Chimpy McStagger, from the first campaign until the bitter end. He then became an energy lobbyist.

So, you see, all these peeps would have no reason to block any sort of fact checking on any subject, amirite?

Really, what good is fact-checking if it exists in isolation from that which is being fact-checked? Sure, Zuckerberg can say it was fact-checked (and not be lying), but you know, that is totally disingenuous.

And then:

Transgender Facebook content dominated by right-wing sources, study finds

Anti-transgender Facebook content shared by right-wing news sources generated more engagement than content from pro-transgender or neutral sources combined, according to a Media Matters for America study of 225 viral social media posts.

That means the majority of Facebook interactions with those viral posts — over 43 million of 66 million shares, comments and reactions over the span of a year — were on items posted by anti-trans websites like LifeSiteNews, Daily Wire and Daily Caller, according to the report.

The fetus-fondling Gawd Botherers have found their new target and it is our friends in the Trans community. Their weapon appears to be Facebook.

Is it any wonder that Conservatives see Facebook as their platform? I think that they are right.

And we conclude with:

Zuckerberg: No deal with Trump

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, under fire for allowing President Trump to post inflammatory statements on his platform, tells Axios there’s no truth to whispers that the two have a secret understanding.

Why it matters: Zuckerberg, facing a growing ad boycott from brands that say Facebook hasn’t done enough to curtail hate speech, has become increasingly public in criticizing Trump. “I’ve heard this speculation, too, so let me be clear: There’s no deal of any kind,” Zuckerberg told Axios. “Actually, the whole idea of a deal is pretty ridiculous.”

  • “I do speak with the president from time to time, just like I spoke with our last president and political leaders around the world,” he added.

You know what, Faceberg, the fact that you have to debunk this so publicly tells us that you’ve already lost the PR battle.

It seems that Faceberg is on me like flies on you know what. This latest time they didn’t even allow my error to be posted and complained about. They pulled it directly and gave me a week in Jail.
I called Donny “white trash”? I understand it could be considered crude but I think it way milder than many things I have been called as a Democrat and a Liberal.
My only conclusion is that calling Donny anything is no longer allowed. My last 3 day, was for calling him a “Russian Bastard”. I am never going to call him President so I will have to adapt my writing if I choose to continue.
I thought we had something called “free speech” but I can plainly see it doesn’t apply to Facebook.
Or to the people of Portland having a right to assemble and share their grievances. I can see where that got us. Now I hear rumors of our want to be nazi shit show coming to Chicago?
Things are getting a bit iffy out there.

To be fair, Facebook is a platform that allows access. If you want to really fight back, keep notes, take down names and prove they are a de facto government agency. Use their patterns of fact-checking and tagging to prove it. That makes it a first amendment issue.

Try Petulant-Child-in-Chief and see what you get. I would but I am not now and never have been a member of The Book of Faces.

People in Oakland like to shoot back, and I bet the same goes for Chicago. So, what’s the penalty for employing self-defense against uniformed-but-not-insignified thugs operating ILLEGALLY, and clearly causing harm to American citizens? That’s gotta be worth at least a pat on the back.

Too bad it’s not going to be a “target-rich environment.” Oh, and keep in mind – incoming rounds have the right-of-way.
