Portland, Part Deux

When fascism comes to the United States, it will be carrying a bible upside down and backwards and humping the flag – paraphrasing, of course.

I think this is good news:

Oregon will sue federal police agencies, open criminal investigation into use of force

Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum announced late Friday that her office would sue several federal law enforcement agencies over their response to Portland protests and launch a criminal investigation into an incident of force by federal officers.

Rosenblum is seeking a temporary restraining order to stop federal officers from detaining Portlanders, arguing federal agencies seized and detained Oregonians without probable cause. She said the state’s lawsuit in federal court will name the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Federal Protection Service as defendants.

As we noted yesterday, this leap into Pinochet-style abducting citizens without any due process is the stuff of fascistic dictatorships. It’s not creeped up on us, its been galloping.

Digby has an excellent post up, here’s the shorthand (in case you are in a rush, TLDR):

“When someone shows you who they are believe them; the first time.”

Here’s the beginning of her post:

Trump has been saying over and over again since George Floyd was murdered, “if cities won’t deal with protesters, I will.” Bill Barr declared war on “Antifa” and blamed it for the violence and looting in the early days of the protests.

And it goes on from there, told in tweets and an excerpt from a Ruth Marcus (!) column. But she makes the point that Lord Damp Nut said he was gonna do it, and then he did it, which should make it much easier for Oregon Attorney General Rosenblum to sue: it was premeditated.

Let’s just not forget who installed pinochet in power in 1972. As Sgt. Drebben of Naked Gun fame would famously say, the cows have come home to roost.

I think it’s a good sign than LDN had to use DHS goons in Portland. It means that after the Bible stunt with Gen. Milley, he can no longer rely on the military. Something to keep in mind post-1/20, if we have to use force to evict him from the WH.

Grasping at straws after a uniquely awful week.

The whole Portland scene, complete with kidnapping of “violent agitators” [to include the apparent “arrest” of DOJ personnel (who were embedded as agitators like the shills that lead the chants at LDN’s pep rallies)for debriefing.], compliments of Willie-the-Poohbarr and Skeevey Miller.
