The NYTimes tells us that The Fourth Reich is demanding hospitals bypass the CDC and send their assorted reports and numbers directly to Alex Azar at HHS:

The Trump administration has ordered hospitals to bypass the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and, beginning on Wednesday, send all coronavirus patient information to a central database in Washington — a move that has alarmed public health experts who fear the data will be distorted for political gain.

The new instructions are contained in a little-noticed document posted this week on the Department of Health and Human Services’ website, Sheryl Gay Stolberg reports. From now on, H.H.S., and not the C.D.C., will collect daily reports about the patients that each hospital is treating, how many beds and ventilators are available, and other information vital to tracking the pandemic.

Oh hell, no. Just stop that s*** right there.  Nip it in the bud.

The CDC needs that data, untouched and un-politicized, and if there’s one thing we know from watching HHS since the beginning of the Trump-Virus, Azar is a trumpie true believer.

This right here startles me, and is more worrisome than almost any other act or action they’ve taken; this is a serious Pogrom.
Are the deceased’s Medical Records included, for addition to any studies on comorbidity factors or inclusion to the Database? And other sensitive, private info will be included, like survivors’ names, addresses, ages, and political affiliation, through Voter Registration records?

Not only that, but if the Gov’t doesn’t release any “numbers” that indicate how many are dying, then no one’s dying anymore, amirite?

I hope the hospitals just send it to both, the CDC and HHS. Everyone will be able to see how they are barbering the numbers.

    This is really awful.

I was sort of wondering how many Deep Blue folks know some of the hospital staffers who handle the reporting. Sure would be nice to have the reports in hand to compare and contrast with what CDC then puts out. This is terrible for other countries, as well. Many-many other countries have sent their people to our (emphasis on “our” as in NOT Donnie’s) CDC to learn how to set up their own version. Apparently our CDC is used as a role model around the globe. And now it’s seems apparent that Donnie Dipshite is trying to screw it up enough that it will be useless.

On a similar note, and perhaps as the first yellow brick to be laid in the sidewalk: sometime in the early to mid-80’s under a Repub Prez the Mortality and Morbidity division(s) of the CDC suddenly stopped collecting and reporting data on induced and spontaneous abortions. The scuttlebutt (supported by direct observation by those of us working in the field) was that the death and complication numbers for abortions were so low that the anti-abortion congressional critters wanted the collection of said data halted so it could no longer be used by the pro-choice majority.

This is a terrible new breach of integrity. It’s a big grab by Trump to take the data out of the hands of those who need it to calculate and predict the course of the virus and bury it and distort it so he doesn’t look like a disaster. That ship has sailed; Trump dropped the ball early and we all know that he’s allowed thousands to die for his lack of action. But this move will further damage the CDC’s abilities to fight the virus and there’s the tragedy.

I’ve read that by law the data goes to the CDC, and this is just barely a memo and thus does not supersede that actual law; it is just an illegal “order” from the 4th Reich. Once again, they don’t know how government works or, FSM forbid, understand the proper legal process for carrying out their wishes, so you get stupid orders like this that are illegal to enforce.

Just out of curiosity, am I the only one here who thinks that big shiny thing on Donnie’s head looks an awful lot like a squinched tight sphincter? Just askin’ .
