It’s the old “Waymoe” slashback; just claim that the facts are bass-akward: “It (hurts, kills, maims, threatens, wipes out, extinctifies {iz a werd}) WAYMOE of us than it does to YOU GUYS!!! We’re the ones suffering here! And we don’t wanna hear ’bout no worser sufferin than OURS, unnastan? Because this is the worst suffering there could ever be…”

And after all these years of our noble suffering, all we ask is to have something like “White Guy’s Month,” or “Week,” or hell, if all you’ll give us is a “Day,” we’ll take it!

Wadda ya mean we can’t even have a “White Guy’s Day?”
See?!?!?! That right there shows how much we’re Persecuted!!!

  2. And in fact he is, as usual, fractally wrong in his statements… https://ajph.aphapublications.org/doi/full/10.2105/AJPH.2018.304559

black males are up to 8 times more likely to be killed by police.

But clearly this is a Deep State Fake News study designed to make trump look bad….

I wish the interviewer would then have said, “So why are police killing unarmed Americans?” Let him sputter along after that.

That’s a better question. Still waiting for that answer. All i got so far is -they want to kill people who are not like them. That is not a good answer.

Was he already sweating bullets like that or did that particular question kick in the Adderall induced head rush? ‘That was a terrible question’ is also a tell. Means he just had another mini-stroke.

This is something that is kind of difficult to talk about in this historical moment. It’s true that police do kill a lot of White people too, even unarmed ones. Their victims are disproportionately Black and Brown, but there are still more White people overall in this country. At the same time, it’s important not to create some kind of false equivalence between the police killing Whites vs. Brown people, and Blacks especially, because when the police kill White people it’s not part of a centuries-long campaign to oppress White people. The point to make is twofold:

White people also suffer from the increasing militarization and lack of accountability of the police.
That centuries-long campaign has multiple prongs, of which police lynchings are not even the most deadly.

Arguably this is not an important point to make right now. Reducing the number of Black people who are killed by police without repercussions will almost certainly reduce the number of people of other races who are killed without repercussions, so what does the nuance matter? But I have seen too many people on Facebook suggesting that this is not a White people problem. Even John Oliver implied that on his episode about police brutality. We need to recognize that White people cannot wear their skin like armor against the police. There is some White privilege at work here, but the privilege is narrower than we might think.

Of course suggesting that killing Black people is OK because we’re also killing White people is just despicable.

      Nicely put.
“Arguably this is not an important point to make right now.”
It kind of is an important point. Without this point it becomes divide (again) and conquer (again) for the status quo. But when this point is acknowledged, it’s “se we are in
agreement.”, which is also why phrasing matters, making “why are police killing unarmed Americans” a sort of unifying statement. We are in this together, and fighting each other about the way things are just makes the villains laugh and toast each other.
