Grifting for Jeebus

“Small, non-sequential, unmarked bill, and we have a deal,” Jeebus said.

A Dallas megachurch —whose pastor is a vocal Trump supporter— was approved for a PPP loan worth worth $2 million to $5 million:

Among those approved for loans through the massive government relief program were a Dallas megachurch whose pastor has been an outspoken ally of the president; a Florida church tied to Trump spiritual adviser and “prosperity gospel” leader Paula White; and a Christian-focused nonprofit where Jay Sekulow, the lawyer who defended the president during his impeachment, is chief counsel.

Jay Sekulow, last seen defending Comrade Prznint Trump at the impeachment trial is a founder and the legal counsel for Jews for Jesus, and we’re not making that up.

Anyway, that’s your tax dollars flowing into the collection plate of a prosperity gospel grifter.

The business of churching (and I define it broadly) ought to be subject to local, state and federal taxation.

It’s Biblical. “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and unto god what is god’s” You know, pay your taxes and remember that your religious duties take precedence over getting money off of your fellow temple goers.

If Jock Ewing were still around, he’d have Bobby passing out P’s, not B’s (booze, broads, and bribes).

Churching most certainly has become a “Big Business,” but as long as that rock-solid wall (heh-heh) separating Church & State remains, Churches will not be taxed, so don’t even THINK about it.

Sheesh, summa you guys woulda taxed Jeebus hisself, or at least demanded a cut from the admission fee to his rallies.

If you don’t pay taxes, how do you qualify for tax payer funded bailouts? I’m thinking of these grifters, and the Norquist fuckers, and the Ayn Rand corpse fuckers, and just thinking there are local businesses herein Bennington far more deserving and didn’t get anything.
Now I’m fucking pissed. Again and still and forever since 2016.

Speaking as the President of a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit (Educational) [as opposed to 501(c)(3) Non-Profit (religious, charitable, scientific or literary purposes.)], if a 501(c)(3) is large enough to employ people they are eligible to apply for a PPP loan. Our 501(c)(3) is all volunteer so we have no paid employees, however, large 501(c)(3)’s, such a megachurches, have a large enough member base to employ all the way from janitor(s) to an executive director. The only qualification you need (besides connections to the fast track) to apply for a PPP loan is employees with W-2’s or 1099’s to back up your claim.

And why do I get the feeling the Bill was written to include them specifically, or at least to contain a loophole, or workaround? Weren’t there some other biznesses that were specifically “targeted” in the legislation, that benefited greatly from their inclusion? I keep reading of scandal after scandal in regards to recipients (Madame Chow, aka Mrs. Moscow Mitch?) that didn’t actually deserve a loan; some returned it, others said GTFO.

And meanwhile, thousands of small businesses – the ones the loans were supposed to help the most? If they didn’t already have a “working arrangement” with one of the Big Banks, then they were automatically declined, or their app “got lost,” or any of a myriad of other excuses, and with no independent oversight, we’ll never know the depths of this Govt’s ineptitude, incompetence or sheer depravity.
