What Did Comrade Trump Know, And When Did He Know It

The Betrayal continues:

“Sure, Jan.”

@NYTimesbooks? Prznint Stupid has Bolton on the brain (eww, gross), but that’s not really the important bit of this story.

Russian bounties to Taliban-linked militants resulted in deaths of U.S. troops, according to intelligence assessments

“Russian bounties offered to Taliban-linked militants to kill coalition forces in Afghanistan are believed to have resulted in the deaths of several U.S. service members, according to intelligence gleaned from U.S. military interrogations of captured militants in recent months.

“Several people familiar with the matter said it was unclear exactly how many Americans or coalition troops from other countries may have been killed or targeted under the program. U.S. forces in Afghanistan suffered a total of 10 deaths from hostile gunfire or improvised bombs in 2018, and 16 in 2019. Two have been killed this year. In each of those years, several service members were also killed by what are known as ‘green on blue’ hostile incidents by members of Afghan security forces, which are sometimes believed to have been infiltrated by the Taliban.

“The intelligence was passed up from the U.S. Special Operations forces based in Afghanistan and led to a restricted high-level White House meeting in late March, the people said.”

The NYTimes picked up a detail: they followed the money!

“The crucial information that led the spies and commandos to focus on the bounties included the recovery of a large amount of American cash from a raid on a Taliban outpost that prompted suspicions. Interrogations of captured militants and criminals played a central role in making the intelligence community confident in its assessment that the Russians had offered and paid bounties in 2019, another official has said.”

The AP has some collaborating evidence:

“The officials the AP spoke to said the intelligence community has been investigating an April 2019 attack on an American convoy that killed three U.S. Marines after a car rigged with explosives detonated near their armored vehicles as they were traveling back to Bagram Airfield, the largest U.S. military installation in Afghanistan. Three other U.S. service members were wounded in the attack, along with an Afghan contractor.

“The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack on Twitter. The officials the AP spoke to also said they were looking closely at insider attacks — sometimes called ‘green-on-blue’ incidents — from 2019 to determine if they are also linked to Russian bounties.”

The evidence seems to be falling into place that the Russian program existed. The evidence for Benedict Stupid sitting on the intel and not taking action is denial that anyone knew anything, and it’s hard to believe, despite the reporting that Trump doesn’t read the PDB.

Someone with a high-enough security clearance should testify: was he informed and when. It’s not enough to ask if it was in the briefing (he doesn’t or cannot read), so the real question is, when did he know.

Last word to Nancy Pelosi:

“Just as I have said to the president: With him, all roads lead to Putin,” Pelosi said, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin. “I don’t know what the Russians have on the president, politically, personally, or financially.”

Not having a clue versus treason? I guess it’s a “better” look.

I hope news people and unbiased officials keep digging and get collaboration and then go after the entire corrupt lot of them. I don’t care if other presidents did it, I don’t care if soldiers were not deliberately targeted, I want this publicized and actions taken against the people in charge.

It would appear that gross incompetence/criminal negligence in the performance of his duties as president is the best “defense” that he has. Frankly, is one of the worst derelictions of duty on the part of a high government official that I can remember, ever. Sure, which can be blamed for the 2003 Iraq invasion, but he had a better defense in terms of “faulty intelligence” than this president does. Here, the conclusion is inescapable that he just washed his hands of the matter because he didn’t want to disturb his BFF Vladimir Putin.

I think this is perhaps the worst scandal of his presidency. It’s quite unbelievable really. It makes me ill to think of it.

I would like to know why this isn’t more Frontpage than it is? Where is the outrage?
Either he knew and did nothing or he didn’t know and needs to be condemned for that.
He of course denies responsibility as usual but this time it comes straight back to him, as Presinit.
He really shit his britches this time.

Possibly another fabricated Russia Hoax, maybe by the Fake News @nytimesbooks, wanting to make Republicans look bad!!!

Careful there Wonder Boy. Acknowledging the existence of a Russian Hoax would also acknowledge Russian interference in the 2016 election. Also, the lights on you bro and not the republicans. So far. Unless of course, you’re being sarcastic. In that case, never mind. Ha Ha You’re funny.

I wonder if Biden will have the nerve to call him out on this during a debate?

If it were me I’d make it p[publicly known that I planned to call him out on it during the first debate, just to watch him squirm.

Hey, remember back a million years ago when the Orange Baby decided to show off to his Russian buddies by inviting them into the Oval Office alone and shared Classified Intelligence on Syria provided by Israel?
Remember when his then National Security Adviser and Chief of Staff then both had to publicly lie and claim they’d been in the room with him and he’d not shared any classified intelligence?
Remember when he then promptly contradicted them; telling journalists that yes, he had revealed intelligence, that he had the power and the right to tell the Russians whatever he wanted to?
Remember when everyone was oh so shocked by all that for about a week?
Fun times… well all that was THREE YEARS AGO. America did nothing. The GOP did nothing. It didn’t even rate a mention in the Impeachment trial.

And remember when it leaked that Bill Barr would fire anyone in the Justice Department that so much as thought about investigating new Russian interference in U.S. elections?

And remember how Trump flies into a fury whenever Russia is mentioned?

I am quite prepared to accept that by now the people who prepare the daily intelligence brief know not to allow reference to Russia, of whatever form, to make it through to the single page brief delivered to Trump to ignore.
