Trump to Possum Hollar: Red Hats Required, Masks Optional

President Trump defended his decision to move ahead with a controversial large-scale Tulsa rally this weekend amid the pandemic, saying in an interview Friday with Axios that “we have to get back to living our lives” and “we’re going to have a wild evening tomorrow night at Oklahoma.”

  • Pressed on why he wasn’t using his presidential bully pulpit to encourage rally attendees to wear masks, Trump described masks as “a double-edged sword.” When asked if he recommended people wear them, he added: “I recommend people do what they want.”

“I always do,” he did not add. “It’s good to be king.”

The interview continues:

Later in the interview, talking about China’s renewed trouble with coronavirus, Trump said: “It’s hard to stop it. It’s the most contagious virus anyone’s ever seen. I could look at you, and all of a sudden you have the virus. Or vice versa.”

  • He relished the lifting of a health and safety curfew in Tulsa for his supporters and said he has no intention of wearing a mask at the rally and that people should do what they want.
  • “I don’t feel that I’m in danger,” he said. “I’ve met a lot, a lot of people, and so far here I sit.” (Everyone who meets with Trump, including this reporter, is tested beforehand.)

From The WaPo:

As coronavirus cases surge in the U.S. South and West, health experts in countries with falling case numbers are watching with a growing sense of alarm and disbelief, with many wondering why virus-stricken U.S. states continue to reopen and why the advice of scientists is often ignored.

“It really does feel like the U.S. has given up,” said Siouxsie Wiles, an infectious-diseases specialist at the University of Auckland in New Zealand — a country that has confirmed only three new cases over the past three weeks and where citizens have now largely returned to their pre-coronavirus routines.

“I can’t imagine what it must be like having to go to work knowing it’s unsafe,” Wiles said of the U.S.-wide economic reopening. “It’s hard to see how this ends. There are just going to be more and more people infected, and more and more deaths. It’s heartbreaking.”

It is hearbreaking, it’s also deadly stupid, as 119,000 dead Americans would testify if they could.

The Hat of the Red Dumbth

*The red cap madness had long devastated the country. No pestilence had ever been so trying, or so hideous. Stupidity was its Avatar and its seal — the madness of Q and the horror of stupidity.

There were facebook rants, and constant complaining of antifa, and then profuse disbelief of their lying eyes, and fanaticism. The scarlet items upon the body and especially upon the head of the victim, were the pest ban which shut him out from the polite society and from the sympathy of non-MAGA citizens. And the whole seizure, progress, and culmination to Q-tard, were incidents of three years.

But Prince Prostupido was unhappy and needy and narcissitic. When his re-election was nearly unreachable, he summoned to his presence thirty thousand pale and dim-witted marks from among the bigots, crackers and trailer trash of his base, and with these retired to the infection hotspot of one of his red state refuges. This was an enclosed and cramped arena, the site of the prince’s own eventual refusal to pay the bills and stiff the city.

A flimsy chain link fence girdled it in. This wall had gates of wire. The MAGATs, having camped for days outside, brought the virus in and shared it widely….*

Trump’s negligence, dereliction of duty, and determination to do the exact opposite of what would have been required to effectively deal with the pandemic is criminal; and it continues.

I’ve been pounding on contact tracing all this week. the Trump campaign has the data to do it for all the people inside. But they they will stall. They will try and say they don’t know for SURE someone infected was inside and they don’t need to do anything more than tell people they might have been exposed. But whatever happens they aren’t liable since they told people to wear masks and they signed a waiver.
I’ve looking into the data the campaign has and the responsibility of OSDH. OSDH should get the data when it’s been proven infected attended.
OK has free testing. People COULD have been tested while waiting in line for the RALLY!
Then when the rally ends the results could be revealed during the event!

The thing that truly amazes me is that he could be at 55 or 60% approval if in early February he said he was listening to the experts on how to handle the pandemic and then doing what Fauci and others told him to do. No effort required on his part, point the experts at the problem and get out of the way. But he’s such a lazy fuck he couldn’t be bothered to do even that.

Exactly! He blew the shit out of an opportunity that could have given him a clear shot at reelection, AND we would be in real recovery mode now!

OK has free COVID-19 testing. If I was in OK I would offer to
test the people waiting in line for the Tulsa rally.
When the results come in send them to the people WHILE they are INSIDE THE RALLY!
Everyone inside will have to self isolate!

Alert the media (it’s legal for the media to be alerted that someone inside is infected, just a long as there is no identifying info) .

Alert everyone that people at the rally have been exposed and that people should shun I mean quarantine them for 14 days.

I just had this idea. But I’m sure someone in OK already had this idea and is implementing it.Here are some other thoughts
New testing gives you results in 2-4 hours. That would allow the Trump campaign to refuse entry or people to leave when they learn they are infected.
But if OSDH misses the window people could go in AFTER testing but BEFORE results. E.g. tested at noon, inside at 4:00 pm, OSDH announces to infected at 6, before Trump speaks at 7. Media would run story live at 7.
Chaos won’t ensue because they will all think it is fake news. However the people around the BOK Center can start implementing quarantine protocols. Like on Cruise ships and aircraft carriers.

Spocko – except those tests they’re using in OK? They have a min. 5 – 7 day turnaround time, from what I’ve read. And the Trumpeters are all crowing about the more than a million ticket requests from which they’ve culled the most pertinent data, and how they’re considering that data proprietary, and are NOT willing to share it with the OK State Health Dep’t., which has requested at least the attendee’s names, etc., for future tracking purposes. Requested. Not demanded, not “suing for,” and they definitely don’t have any help coming from the Guv. in trying to order, or even “persuade” the tRumpy-Dumpys to share vitally-needed info.

Attendees ARE being persuaded to contact the OK Dep’t. of Health if they become ill afterwards, on their own, so that at least some basic tracking can be instituted, and they’re being offered free testing.

I’m really interested in a link to the part about the requesting of the data from OK Dept of Health.
Please send it if you can I’ve been looking for this kind of info to feed the reporters and THEN make suggestions on OTHER sources of the data.

I’ve got 1500 quatloo’s riding on the MHSG appearing at the rally via video.

And until tomorrow when I see video of him standing inside, breathing that virus infested air along with his horde of orcs I won’t stop raising my bet against any comers that he won’t actually enter the space.

He doesn’t know hypocrisy from a condom.

Quatloos? You are using QUATLOOS? Let’s make this interesting. If I win and Trump goes to the rally you will have 80 Thousand and one rabid, infected people spreading their hate all over the country.

My wager is that he will be inside a plexiglass bubble, with a separate air filtration system, paid for by us, of course, as a “security” measure “required” by the Secret Service. How many of his horde would be disgusted by a video feed after all his posturing about masks? Probably few, but enough, and #bubblebitch will be trending by tomorrow.

Spocko, there’s a cure for ignorance, but not for stupidity.

        • Trump isn’t just doing everything he can to make his event into a human Petri dish, he’s starting the experiment on the sidewalks hours in advance. It takes some time for SARS-CoV-2 to manifest, so it’s unlikely that Trump will be leading cheers of “Lock [cough] her up!” But … give it a couple of weeks and check back.
By then, Trump is scheduled to do two more.*

There’s nothing we can do except try to get out of the way and hope we don’t get caught in the backsplash.

That works out to $17.96 (exchange rate here – ) or an 18 pack of Charmin Mega rolls. Or 6 bottles of Corona beer, 330 ml bottles with enough left over for pretzels or peanuts. Or lime, I guess.
Huh – 20-ish bucks goes farther than I thought it would.

It has occurred to me to wonder if a few hundred shrieking, maskless covid+ MAGAts could project enough virus into the air in an indoor arena to make it to the sweaty, carnival-barking ringleader at the center. I’m sure they’ll have have a broad no-man’s-land between him and his shrieking hoard, but it’s indoors, all those ‘rona droplets have nowhere to go. Is he going to appear in a sealed plexiglass box? Hazmat suit?

What’s the over/under on how many people actually die from attending this little shindig?
I’m setting it at 25* and betting on the over.

*5-10% get infected>10-20% of those get hospitalized>10% (or more) of those die. (Yes, I’m bored isolating and waiting for my test to come back. Hint: it’s not 2-4 hours.)
