The Villagers Rally

News at 11.

Our failed political press tells us that Sen. Amy Klobuchar decided to remove herself from consideration to being Handsome Joe Biden’s VP.

Tiger Beat’s morning email thingie:

VEEPSTAKES … SEN. AMY KLOBUCHAR (D-Minn.) officially took herself out of the running to be BIDEN’S running mate Thursday night on MSNBC’s“The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell.”

“This is a historic moment and America must seize on this moment. I truly believe that this [is] a moment to put a woman of color on that ticket and there are so many incredibly qualified women,” she said.

— OF COURSE, Klobuchar became a much more unlikely pick in the wake of George Floyd’s death as questions were raised about her decision not to prosecute Minneapolis police officers after a fatal shooting while she served as Hennepin County’s top prosecutor.

They are kinda glossing over not just that Klobuchar’s decision to not prosecute Minneapolis police, she chose to not prosecute THE COP who killed George Floyd for an earlier brutal assault.

Axios morning email thingie doesn’t even mention her career work as a prosecutor:

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) told MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell last night that she has withdrawn herself from consideration as Joe Biden’s running mate, believing the former vice president should pick a woman of color.

  • “After what I’ve seen in my state, after what I’ve seen across the country, this is a historic moment, and America must seize on this moment. … If you wanna heal this nation right now, … this is sure a hell of a way to do it.”

Our thought bubble, via Axios’ Alexi McCammond: Shortly after George Floyd’s killing, Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) told “Axios on HBO” that the timing was bad for Klobuchar.

  • Her statement last night served as an attempt at healing with her relationship with the African American community, allowing her to bow out with grace.

That’s another example of the Cocktail Circuit softening reporting. Access is everything.

Gee, “the timing is bad.” Yeah, that George – he picked a lousy time to be asphyxiated and die, during the run-up to the Biggest Electoral Event Ever, In Modern Times, or EVER!
It’s been a (D) seat for quite a while, and will likely remain so because of the backlash against Rethugs, but it’s time to search for a relevant replacement.

Why it takes serious and deadly incidents to uncover all these “foibles* we’re seeing is a mystery to me, and probably will be, but George’s martyrdom is doing some good.

Any word yet on whether or not she stands by her record as Hennepin County’s top prosecutor? Especially when it comes to the guy who murdered George Floyd.

roket -I don’t know if you’ve read any John Sandford novels based on characters in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area, but if every one of his novels are based on true events – and he’s said, some are, some aren’t – then that area of the country is a hotbed for serial killers, and crimes of the most heinous fashion from the folks whom you’d suspect the least; those friendly, good-natured mom-and-pop types right next door. Yeah, the ones with a torture compartment in their basement, or up at their hunting or fishing cabins.

My favorites are the “Virgil Flowers” series, but a lot of the others are just as well-written, and recommended for good escapist Thrillers
