Lord Damp Nut asserts another lie:
If he had paid attention, he would have seen the vast majority of demonstrators were masked (though surely he would have proclaimed them to be masked looters). We mention this because FAKE NEWS WaPo tells us:
Judge denies Oklahoma residents’ bid to block Trump’s rally because of coronavirus fears
“A Tulsa judge on Tuesday denied an effort by city residents and business owners to block President Trump from holding an indoor campaign rally this weekend that some fear could further the spread of the coronavirus.
“The lawsuit in the district court of Tulsa County sought a temporary injunction against the company that manages the 19,000-seat venue, the BOK Center, ‘to protect against a substantial, imminent, and deadly risk to the community,’ according to a copy of the complaint. Judge Rebecca Nightingale denied the request.”
Prznint Stupid’s 2020 Goat Rodeo campaign said that Possum Hollar attendees would be offered masks and hand sanitizer (conveniently located next to the trash cans) and have their temperatures checked upon entry. One hopes not anally, but, you know Republicans? Amiright?
Axios morning email thingie tells us that the W$J has some related news:
As COVID-19 enveloped us, there were so many basic uncertainties about the virus. Now, the front page of today’s Wall Street Journal reports “a growing consensus about a central question: How do people become infected?”:
- “It’s not common to contract COVID-19 from a contaminated surface, scientists say. And fleeting encounters with people outdoors are unlikely to spread the coronavirus.”
- “Instead, the major culprit is close-up, person-to-person interactions for extended periods. Crowded events, poorly ventilated areas and places where people are talking loudly or singing … maximize the risk.”
Why it matters: “Enough virus has to make itself over to you or build up around you over time to trigger an infection,” the Journal writes.
- A rule of thumb: Prolonged exposure is “generally defined as 15 minutes or more of unprotected contact with someone less than 6 feet away.”
- Of course, “it could take much less time with a sneeze.”
Anyway, add that onto having the rubes sign waivers so they and/or their estates cannot sue Lord Damp Nut and you have a perfect system for culling the herd.
