Kudlow: ‘All is Well’

Tiger Beat (emphasis is mine):

“White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow on Friday declared that a ‘second wave’ of the coronavirus was not descending upon the country, even as cases of Covid-19 are spiking in more than a dozen states. ‘There is no emergency. There is no second wave. I don’t know where that got started on Wall Street,’ Kudlow told ‘Fox & Friends.’

As Gawd is my waitress, Petunia & Pals is a vector for Teh Stupid, and rhetorical question, but has Kudlow ever been right about anything? Bueller? Anyone?

Although Kudlow, director of the National Economic Council, acknowledged he is ‘not the health expert,’ he said he had spoken with the administration’s top public health officials ‘at some length’ Thursday evening. ‘They are saying there is no second spike. Let me repeat that. There is no second spike,’ he said.

“‘What you do have is certain spots are seeing a little bit of a jump up. Some small metropolitan areas are seeing it. The CDC and the health people are all over it. They’ve sent some task forces out to deal with it,’ Kudlow added, partly attributing increases in Covid-19 cases to more widespread testing availability.”

Why is the economics guy talking about health? My best guess is that they are worried shitless that a second spike will sink the economy for good. And they damn well know that there is a second spike coming.

We’re totally eff’ed in the dark.

But he’s correct about not being in a second wave.
We’re still in the first one.

MellowJ – Some localities are experiencing a 2nd wave, having been hit lightly in Round 1, so they reopened – too early – while others had a vigorous Round 1, but then reopening wrought Phase 2. But like BDR says, it’s going to be impossible to ignore mountains of corpses, so eventually the Virus WILL determine how fast the Economy bottoms out despite their best efforts, and we become enmeshed and entangled in another Great Depression, while totally lacking the leadership needed to alter course.

And the tactics they’re using and deploying will only ensure that this happens, when it CAN BE mitigated to a point where’s it’s not too painful on the Majority, but if that DOES ever occur, it will be way too late.

    ‘not the Health expert’
Not the economics expert either, ironically.
Also ironically, “a little bit of a jump up” is pretty much the definition of a “spike”.
    What a maroon.

Kudlow couldn’t find his own ass with both hands and a flashlight. Everything he says is wrong, and provably wrong. He and Mnuchin should share a prison cell someday.

Kudlow is actually correct, the United States is not experiencing a “second wave”; you cannot have a second wave when the first wave hasn’t ended.
