This is a nightmare

It’s a thread, and the whole thing is worth reading, and I’ll unbury the lede: this happened in Texas in 2019, and Texas wouldn’t let the video be released. Every tweet in this thread is another indictment of the police and is an argument for taking some long-overdue steps to reign them back in.

Guys, I know this is supposed to be a funny and snarky blog, but there are just some things we have to face dead-on, and the systematic killing of our fellow citizens is one of them.

From the NY Post article: The death has been ruled a homicide — but no disciplinary action or charges have been filed, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

    Well, of course.

There are the atrocities we see, and then there are the many more we don’t see. I know that many words have been written, many thoughts and ideas shared with regards to racism, especially during the time since George Floyd’s death. The tragedy is that we just keep burying the victims and with them, their stories.

Now we get up, push away from our privilege, and get our hands dirty. We dig in, we vote, we donate, we speak up and speak out. Believe those who tell us that they are oppressed, believe them when they tell us that they are angry. We have to stop denying the problems and find how we change.

I’m reminded of the murder caught on video a couple of years ago where the black man was fleeing and the policeman shot him in the back numerous times, killing him. That was especially shocking to me, and yet it’s just one of many.

These incidents are sparking worldwide protests, and yet the current “Administration” and the GOP contend to pretend that it’s just “a few rotten apples.”

Nobody should forget this: Sessions, in Last-Minute Act, Sharply Limits Use of Consent Decrees to Curb Police Abuses.

Is it any wonder that racist cops feel they can kill with impunity? Is it any wonder that this scandal has just gotten worse under Trump?

We are with you TG and are all in this together.

What freaks me out is what hasn’t been captured on video/phones/cameras.

Curious. Why didn’t ‘Live PD’ air this prime footage on their TV show? Also, who was the Editor that decided to sit on this?? Or should that be Producer? I’m fine with losing both producers and editors, by the way.
