Meanwhile, Testing Is Not Happening in Possum Hollar

Axios’ morning email thingie tells us something shocking that we probably could have guessed:

More than half of U.S. counties don’t have a single coronavirus testing site, according to a recent report by Castlight, a health software company, Caitlin Owens writes in Axios Vitals.

  • Why it matters: That leaves a wide swath of the country — particularly rural areas — vulnerable to undetected coronavirus outbreaks, especially as lockdown measures ease.
  • Asking people to travel long distances to get a coronavirus test is both unrealistic and potentially dangerous.

54% of all counties don’t have a testing site.

  • Among counties with 50,000 or more people, 38% don’t have any testing sites.
  • Among rural counties with fewer than 10,000 residents, 68% don’t have any.

So under the tender mercies of Lord Damp Nut, once again the real americans in Possum Hollar are being left behind, or more charitably, they are like common cruise ship passengers denied the right to dock because Prznint Stupid likes his numbers low?

Maybe this might be related to Prznint Stupid actually is losing senior voters, per the LATimes:

“Trump’s significant deficit among seniors shows up in poll after poll, nationwide and in key states, including surveys done by nonpartisan groups and by pollsters in both parties.”

We should open the betting windows for how long before the NYTimes sends out another troupe of cultural anthropologists to diners in square-shaped, fly-over states to find out what’s  their take on being left behind by their lord and savior… naw, never mind.

I suppose he’s hoping that with no testing available, people won’t notice the inevitable surge in infections.

They’ll probably notice when people’s relatives start dying horribly and the local hospitals (if any) get swamped, though.

These people have essentially unlimited resources, are able to hire the most intelligent strategists, control the media, and hold the reins of power. They’re not idiots, and yet they singlemindedly pursue a disastrous path that will seed COVID everywhere, and lead to a cataclysmic resurgence of the virus in the fall. Why?

They’re not just going to postpone the election, Gentle Joe. They’re going to create chaos so they can impose their order.

Depending on who you mean by “these people”, you might be drastically overestimating them.
Trump, for example, started with a figurative metric ton of money, even stealing or grifting some of the family inheritance from at least one brother, yet still has managed to have as many bankruptcies as church attendances. And he hires only those who totally agree with him.
If you’re only measures of success are ratings and dollars, that’s all you look at when evaluating your performance, even in a pandemic.

I’m late to the game here, but my 2¢ is that the MHSG is most interested in buying up distressed properties from the families and estates of the dead and renting them to the peons and surfs who are stupid enough to vote for him.

Remember that he bragged about getting rich during the ‘08 recession by buying up for closed and distressed homes only once on the 2016 campaign trail. He, his family and their “class” are happy to rob the graves of the dead and profit off the misery of the poor.

Being in a position to create that misery, and cause those deaths on an unprecedented scale in the richest and supposedly most advanced nation on earth his staff are working hard to balance that death and misery with his election chances. Unfortunately I fear is staff are incredibly good at their jobs.

I also fear they’re all Russian mafia.
