Preaching to the Choir

Jeebus Saves

Hey guys, you know about those bathed in the blood of Christ people who think that they have some special immunity? Seems that they might be wrong!

How coronavirus spread from one member to 87% of the singers at a Washington choir practice

Public health officials studying the Covid-19 outbreak among members of a Washington choir found numerous ways the virus could have spread, according to a report published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Authorities interviewed all 122 members of the Skagit Valley Chorale, which met every Tuesday for 2.5 hours before the outbreak. They focused on two rehearsals held March 3 and March 10 in Mount Vernon, Washington.

The report said 53 people were sickened and two died — and all but one attended both rehearsals. The report said Thirty-three cases were confirmed, the report said, and 20 people had probable infections.

And it continues on and on. Remember the article from MIT yesterday about how shouty people can keep the virus in the stale air for 15 minute? yeah. But you know, open the churches. What could go wrong?

Sadly (and I mean that sincerely) many of these people may be so far gone mentally that they won’t realize what’s hit them until they’re on their death beds. Even then I wonder. They are so invested in this con-man that acknowledging he urged them on to their deaths (c.f. the Pied Piper) may be out of the question.

Not too many of them are going to be reading The Lancet: Prestigious medical journal slams Trump as U.S. death toll surpasses 85,000.

As the confirmed U.S. death toll surpassed 85,000, one of the world’s oldest and best-known medical journals slammed President Trump’s “inconsistent and incoherent national response” to the novel coronavirus pandemic and accused the administration of relegating the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to a “nominal” role.

The Lancet’s unsigned editorial concluded that Trump should be replaced. “Americans must put a president in the White House come January, 2021, who will understand that public health should not be guided by partisan politics,” said the journal, which was founded in Britain in 1823.

I don’t remember where I read it, but the common sense and scientific recommendation is for politicians to go out on stage, give a bracing statement, and then get the heck off the stage whilst turning the mic over to the professionals. Those professionals should be those trained specifically in handling epidemics, including the messaging that has been show to minimize epidemic deaths. You know. all those people that LDN had already fired before SARS-Cov-2 even got it’s name and those that LDN fired after wards for striving to give people accurate information rather than campaign-y clap trap.
Those famous rat-fleas, credited with spreading the Black Death and allowed to spread more because superstitious people went around killing cats (allegedly – I’ve read that was sort of a fairy tale, but I bet a third of the people did do this) because obviously cats are evil so they must have something to do with the plague, are lower than LDN right now, but not by much.

  2. It’s spreading, yesteday Gov. “Il Deuce” Ducey told business leaders (on a Zoom call, natch!) it’s “..their patriotic duty…” to open up.

People are always criticising the Klan, but at least they are socially responsible: you don’t see any of them refusing to wear a mask!
