Pundits Are Prognosticating

I Hope This Is Comrade Trump’s Official Portrait

Tiger Beat on the Potomac (thanks Charlie) morning email thingie ponders the impact of the Bolton book leak:

BUT LET’S BE PERFECTLY CLEAR HERE: MAGGIE and MIKE’S story is as bad as can be for TRUMP. BOLTON is now contradicting the president’s claim that he did not tie the aid to investigating JOE BIDEN, and he is a direct eyewitness. It comes at the absolute worst time for this White House: as the Senate is days away from deciding whether to call witnesses in the impeachment trial.

BOLTON IS DANGEROUS because he’s unmoored from TRUMP.

Bolton is unmoored, for sure, and always has been. but I interrupted, do continue.

He clearly does not care what the president’s orbit thinks of him. His 528-page book is titled, “The Room Where It Happened,” with the words contained inside an oval (hint, hint). It is scheduled for release March 17 and, conveniently enough, is now available for pre-order on Amazon.

Always be closing, Politico!

BOLTON IS NOT LEV PARNAS or one of these other characters who has sprouted up in the Trump era. He’s a through-and-through conservative who was so far to the right that George W. Bush had to wait for recess to make him his U.N. envoy. He’s known to members of the Senate. Not calling him to speak would be spurning one of their own in favor of TRUMP, whom many of them see as an interloper.

But in the end, Tiger Beat has no conclusion about how it will play out, so this analysis is really idle gossip.

My quatloos are riding on that the Senate Republicans will block witnesses, because as much as they (maybe?) hate the “interloper” Trump, they are (definitely) terrified of him.

That said, as all of these new bombs keep dropping and the demand for witnesses keeps growing, after Republicans vote to acquit the Shitgibbon, they will be hard-pressed to defend themselves at their next election: it will be as unpopular as the Iraq War vote.

Meanwhile

“President Donald Trump is already itching to broadcast the series finale of his impeachment. In recent days, he and top White House aides have been considering how he should celebrate his presumed acquittal by the Republican-controlled Senate and whether he should deliver a rare Oval Office address to mark the occasion, according to three senior administration officials.”

Hamberders for everyone. What a dope.

  2. Tie each and every one of these bastards to the mast of the SS Trumptanic, and torpedo it, then strafe the lifeboats. (ob Wonkette rule: “WithVotes!”).

Kick ’em out up and down the ticket. the GOP needs to go the way of the Whigs.

I don’t think they’re afraid of the Pocket Don, It is worth fearing the cult followers whose bone crushing inability to think critically tells them that anyone who takes away their ability to “own the libs” must be punished.

Further, they fear that exposing the depths of systemic corruption in the Republican party has put their very existence as a source of power and money at risk. Sunlight disinfects, and that bacteria gives these parasites life!

That is such the epic photograph of the Hamberder Administration. That celebratory White House dinner put lipstick on the fast-food pig. The other pig stands proudly behind the groaning table.

    • I’ll bet if you zoom into that portrait of Lincoln, he’s blinking “shoot me now please jesus, just shoot me!”

I’m only surprised he didn’t dress up as the Orange Hamburglar

That costume would have been aspirational in nature, since the Shitgibbon, himself, can’t burgle, he can only smash and grab, leaving oily orange fingerprints and muddy footprints all over the scene of the crime, all the way back to Chickpee Towers.

Strange how now we can see Bolton as a good guy. He never was before, but if he helps to bringdown The Cheetolini, then he will be a hero to me, even if it was only because Donny dissed him.
I don’t see the GOPers letting witnesses in, especially when it’s one of their own, he would be hard to discredit.
I do see this as motivating some lazy voters to protest vote rethugs. Bolton’s book will highlight why we impeached the Cheeto boy, and I believe a number of disinterested voters will ask why this was not allowed in a trial over this matter. I can only hope for a wave of upset voters.
I can only hope, is pretty much all we have left.

So many of them are between a rock & a hard place – if they keep backing Dumpy then there’s a chance it might rile enough constituents back home that he can kiss his seat bye-bye, but if he DOESN’T remain loyal to the royal, then he faces that same scenario, while Dumpy will no doubt do his best to shoot the miscreant down in flames.

Why don’t they assemble a gaggle of Senators who just might want him removed, but without the dastardly side-effects noted above, and DEMAND that Mitch hold a private vote on the witness-calling rule at least? I betcha Mitch would fold up like a cheap carpetbag, and the votes would oust the MHSG.

    • Well, I expect that they’re terrified , frozen with fear that if they go against him, he’ll campaign against them, but if they go along, he’ll campaign for them.

Call it the “Kobayashi Moron” scenario. this is the one where Kirk started and 4.5 seconds later ordered the ship to self destruct 🙂
