Hung like a bee
The latest Pew Poll shows that a slight majority of Americans now believe Prznint Stupid should be removed from office. And other Americans are worried for Peter Weber’s love life.
But I digress. Our friends over at Electoral Vote tell us…
…that a slight majority (51%) of American adults want to see the Senate convict Donald Trump and remove him from office. In contrast, 46% want him to continue serving as president. The results are basically along party lines, with 85% of Democrats wanting to dump Trump and 86% of Republicans wanting to keep him. However, not wanting to fire Trump doesn’t necessarily mean someone approves of him. Currently 40% approve of the job he is doing and 58% disapprove.
I will never understand this country.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll offered a third choice, censure by Congress. In that poll, 44% of adults wanted a conviction, 15% wanted censure, and 31% wanted acquittal.
And that’s 59% want… something.
Another interesting question is whether people think Trump has done something illegal. Sixty-three percent think he has and 70% say he has done something unethical.
…but you know, don’t punish him for breaking the law! He’s above the law, afterall!
The “removers” can be broken down in various ways. By race, 41% of white voters, 82% of black voters, and 66% of Latino voters want Trump gone. By age, 63% of younger voters 18-29 want him out but only 41% of seniors do. By education, 60% of postgrads want Trump convicted against only 48% of people with a high school education or less.
I cannot fathom why the non-white population are so set against Hair Füror? Tis a mystery.
But the next paragraph is the one that got my Spidy senses tingling:
As a final note, only 12% of Americans have at least some faith that both parties will do the right thing. Most Democrats (84%) don’t trust the Republicans and most Republicans (85%) don’t trust the Democrats. So no matter how the trial ends, half the country will be steaming angry.
Only 12% of us have any faith left in our political processes. That rock started rolling down the hill, like when exactly? Nixon? And has been picking up debris as it goes. From Iran-Contra (Hi again, AG Bill ‘Low’ Barr!) to the Iraq War to the Great Recession to Ukraine, it’s been…
Everything is broken, including ourselves. I don’t know if 12% is the basement, but I suspect that if The Russian Usurper gets off that 12% will seem like the good ol’ days.
And, as I mentioned over at Yaztreblansky’s joint: at least 40% of our country enthusiastically supports him doing these illegal things, so long as he’s hurting the people he’s supposed to be hurting.
I fear a not-insignificant number are ready, willing and able to start helping him do that. We’re not gonna get lucky forever, because not all the domestic terrorists will be as easy to catch as these ‘The Base’ Nazis they just rounded up.
(note: Mrs BDR saw a report yesterday that confirmed that yes, they did intentionally name themselves after OBL’s organization )
Expect more ammosexual intimidation rallies to follow after the successful run in Virginia.

It’s a pretty sizable lot, but I am encouraged that it is an elderly lot and that any armed insurrection must conclude before the early bird special is over and Mattlock begins.
I don’t think that there will be shots, but I have been wrong before. Often, in fact.

Uh, no, TG. It goes all the way back to the Civil War, or even before, but in THIS century it “reached a peak” with good ol’ Ronny Rayguns. (Coincidentally, so did the idea of “Space Farce.” Remember his “Star Wars” defense shield?)
This I got from Lisa at All Cattle etc.:
“If an individual wants to discriminate against Negroes or others in selling or renting his house, it is his right to do so.” – Ronald Reagan, 1966
Never forget – there was a veto-proof majority, and that’s why Reagan had to sign #MLKDay into law. – John Fugelsang

Reagan was really in a pissy mood when he signed off on MLK Day. Asked about MLK being a communist, Ronnie said “We’ll know in about 30 years.” Ronnie’s sunny disposition was not on display.

One of Mencken’s phrases comes to mind. Speaking of Arkansas, he called it the “apex of moronia.”

Sixty-three percent think the fake president has done something illegal, and 70% say he has done something unethical. Fake Fux Snooze is losing the battle to sell our nation to Russia.

It’s not just not having faith in the “political” process, it’s not having faith in the Justice Department, nowadays.
We always knew there were 2 levels of Justice, one for the rich and another for the rest of us, but it has rarely been so in our faces.
Rich man’s justice is hooey, always has been, likely always will be.

That’s “only 12% of Americans have at least some faith that both parties will do the right thing”, which is not the same as “Only 12% of us have any faith left in our political processes”. It’s astonishing that anyone has faith that both Republicans and Democrats will do the right thing. In fact, it’s so implausible that anyone could “have faith” in that, that I suspect those 12% must have misunderstood the question.
