Grifters Gotta Grift

Trump Tower Moscow?

The Hill tells us that the Trump Organization plans to cut off bids on its Washington, D.C., hotel on Jan. 23, so if you want to own a piece of emoluments-clause violating Constitutional history, get your bids in order!

The Trump Organization leased the property, within the Old Post Office building, from the federal government, and, with extensions, the lease lasts almost 100 years. A new lease owner could adjust the branding and managing of the building.

President Trump’s real estate business hopes to get more than $500 million for the lease rights, amounting to about $2 million per room, people familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal. But buyers have recoiled at that price, which hotel brokers say would be a record for the city.

Sweet Jeebus! Maybe the bedbugs can form a consortium to buy their homeland?

Trump Organization executive Eric Trump said in a prepared statement to the Journal, “We have received tremendous interest in this asset from the biggest names in hospitality and since we announced this opportunity, the momentum has only gotten stronger.”

Oh, it’s been priced by Li’l buddy Erick. That explains it. Now, how will Grift Inc. spin it when no bids come in?

  1. So basically, this hotel is like every other trump business ever : Opens with a splash, makes money for a little while, then gets dumped on some suckers ‘investors’ as it’s headed under.

Also, that picture: Worst Dr. Who Tardis version, ever.

I thought their lease of the Post Office building prohibited subleasing? How does Drumpf have standing to “sell” a lease?

I’d ask to see the real books before placing a bid, not the cooked books. Everything is overpriced and you have to wonder, apart from the foreign emoluments violations and the Republican sycophants, how much money is really coming in. The MAGA types come by to gawk, but they’re not paying $9 for a Bud Light or $19 for a Jack and Coke. The desert rat is right. This smells like the casino deals. Lots of glitz followed by underperformance, then dump it on unsuspecting suckers.

Yup. They want to unload that turkey before the gig is up and they are stuck with a 100 year lease that they cannot afford.
