Goldfingered

It seems that there was a bidding war for the services of Fraud Guaranteed’s secret, James Bond-like founder Lev Parnas:

“Rudy Giuliani’s associate Lev Parnas got $1 million from an account in Russia in September, a month before he was charged with conspiring to funnel foreign money into U.S. political campaigns, according to U.S. prosecutors who asked a judge to jail him for understating his income and assets…. The payment raises provocative new questions about the nature of the work Parnas and his associate Igor Fruman were doing and who they were doing it for. Much about what they did remains unclear. The pair was charged, in part, with working on behalf of one or more Ukrainian government officials to seek the removal of then U.S. ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch. They have pleaded not guilty to all charges.

“Prosecutors said the money was sent to an account in the name of Parnas’s wife, Svetlana Parnas. It appeared “to be an attempt to ensure that any assets were held in Svetlana’s, rather than Lev’s, name,” prosecutors claimed. The payment came the same month that Parnas and Fruman received the first of two requests for documents from Congressional committees investigating the Trump administration’s actions in Ukraine. The pair initially refused to comply with the requests, and were arrested days later on a jet bridge at Dulles International Airport near Washington, D.C., as they sought to board a plane with one-way tickets to Vienna.”

Oddly, Wrong-Again Rudy declined to comment to Bloomberg. As one does.

We conclude with a quote from  Auric Goldfinger hisself:

“Man has climbed Mount Everest. Gone to the bottom of the ocean. He has fired rockets at the moon. Split the atom. Achieved miracles in every field of human endeavor…except crime!”

No wonder Svetlana looked distressed after she and Hubby left the arraignment in NYC in November.

No. I did a bit more research on her. She’s Ukranian, born on March 22, 1988. She and “Lev” married in 2012 and have a long trail of sketchy financial dealings. See the link. She is obviously a trophy wife, and just as obviously deeply implicated as an accomplice in his crimes. My guess is that the Feds will use her as leverage against him for “cooperation,” but how much of that there will be in light of recent events remains to be seen. Cf. Paul Manafort. Basically, she’s now in a world of shit IMHO.
