The Republican Party Takes Flight

You guys, our failed media always pulls out their trope “Democrats in Disarray” at the drop of a hat, but they don’t have a trope for Republicans.

We need to help the Press out, especially at this moment when it is clear that the Republicans have no strategy for dealing with the impeachment and each and everyone of the Good Germans finds himself (and they are always Hims) free-lancing without any messaging direction or strategy from the top.

So, for 1/13 of 1/10th of a point counting towards your midterm paper, come up with a saying for the media to use in headlines to describe the Republicans flailing about. #2 Pencils in the comments.

To commemorate Poppy Bush, who didn’t want Trump to speak at his funeral, we should resurrect “deep doo doo.” As in “Republicans in deep doo doo with Trump.” Or “Trump’s deep doo doo spells doom for Republicans.” Since Trump always manages to shit his bed, it fits.

  11. “Democrats in Disarray”

Because, as always, Republicans are sui generis, and thus unchangeable, unmovable, and it’s always bad news for the Democrats.

President Senator Professor Warren could win with 99% of the vote and 537 of the EC, and the fooking press will immediately start questioning how she will reconcile with the fifteen yahoos left in Magat hats, and whether her policies are ‘too liberal’ and ‘are we really ready for a woman Prezidunt, lets ask our representative panel of raging misogynist white pig-men’

BDR – It’s already happening: One Big Thing the Dems Get Wrong About Warren… but Politico actually is saying something important about how THE MEDIA is distorting the reporting:

“Meanwhile, a quarter-century covering national politics has convinced me that the more pervasive force shaping coverage of Washington and elections is what might be thought of as centrist bias, flowing from reporters and sources alike. It is a headwind for Warren, Sanders, the “squad” on Capitol Hill, even for Trump. This bias is marked by an instinctual suspicion of anything suggesting ideological zealotry, an admiration for difference-splitting, a conviction that politics should be a tidier and more rational process than it usually is.

“A confession: I’ve got it. A pretty strong bout, actually.”

And it goes on from there. I was gobsmacked. It’s worth a read.

      • He didn’t even come CLOSE to the Elephant in the room stomping about and trumpeting loudly….

Why is it none of those wide men of the Center ever stroke their chins and ask “isn’t the GOP agenda put forward by Ted Cruz too radical?”

The GOP attached a Saturn booster to the Overton Window, pointed it right, and lit the fuse.

The median Democrat today would have been considered a right-leaning Republican in 1970. AOC’s policies like ‘Taxing capital gains the same as wages’, ‘establishing a 70% top marginal tax rate’, (and substitute a “Green New Deal” for “Put A Man on the Moon”) would put her in the DEAD CENTER in 1963. Today’s she’s considered a far leftist radical.

Hell, today Ike Eisenhower would be considered a “far leftist radical” by the freedumb caucus…..

Republicans – it’s what the kids are calling Nazis these days.
We could do a call-back to Hillary and call them Deplorable Republicans, which fits but would be roundly mocked because Hillary said it publicly first.
+Here we go – “Regulated Republicans” Not cool to explain a joke, but it’s a portmanteau. That famous Republican playbook is intimated, and it has a hint of the regulation they push to favor their buddies and the regulations they toss to suck up to the same and harm the majority of the populace. It could be misconstrued as a compliment, but that’s authoritarians for you.
    I’m sticking with Regulated Republicans.

Nice, but be prepared for the backsplash of “that’s not backwards, that’s MAGA” or something about how going forward in the “wrong direction” is works than backing right off the cliff.
le sigh All I see is backsplash possibilities today. I think I’ll get off the net and go do something more useful until my frame of mind changes a bit.
