News That Will Drive You To Drink

Happy Hour News Briefs

You guys, we haven’t heard from our old pal Liz ‘3-fingers’ Crokin in a while and I wonder what she’s been up to since, you know, Q-Anon bidness seems to have fallen flat lately. We now cut to Facebook Live…

“Every time this wonderful President walks on stage at a rally, I get tears in my eyes & my whole body is covered in goose bumps whether I’m watching it at home or physically at a rally. I highly encourage everyone to attend one if the opportunity presents itself. It’s better than any rock concert, and I’ve been to a lot, and the high energy & positive vibration is nothing like you will see anywhere else. God bless our POTUS! ❤️”

She must go to really bad concerts, but I coulda guessed that. After all, she went to a Burn the Reichstag rally in Texas.

  3. May I recommend a nice, cold Lagunitas 12th of Never, a nice, flavorful IPA as you contemplate the worst concert one has ever attended…

In my case, a smallish local club in 1979-1980 or so waiting for Black Flag to show up; they got delayed by a van breakdown, and were like four and a half hours late.

The two local bands who were set to play before them finished their sets and in increasingly restive punk audience were getting, well, really restive…and we were ‘entertained’ by three more sets by bands that were made of various members of the other tw bands, then a couple of audience members…

By this point, I’m standing with my back to a brick wall, carefully scoping out the routes to the pool cues on the other side of the room in case a full-scale riot broke out.

Did I mention that I was in full long-hair hippie mode at that time in the midst of a venue FULL with an OG punk crowd that is getting pissed (they were throwing things at the bands by now) and will be perfectly happy to beat the snot out of a long haired hippy just for the entertainment value?

Yeah…THAT concert…..is STILL better than a KKKletus Rally

(Black Flag DID eventually show up; and played an extra long rocking set long into the wee hours of the night…damned good work ethic, exemplified by the fact that 43 years later they’re still touring)

” get tears in my eyes & my whole body is covered in goose bumps ”
She describes a reaction appropriate to a witnessing really bad accident or confronting a really terrifying paranormal event.

The parallels are obvious: Dark Stars: Kim Jong Un, Hitler and Their Adoring Female Fans.

I don’t mean to be sexist in saying this, because men are equally capable of drinking the Kool Aid,

but an appeal to both sexes is essential to the cultivation of authoritarianism.
