This Will Not End Well

The WaPo had an eye-opener yesterday: Trump pushing for major crackdown on homeless camps in California, with aides discussing moving residents to government-backed facilities

“President Trump has ordered White House officials to launch a sweeping effort to address homelessness in California, citing the state’s growing crisis, according to four government officials aware of the effort.

“The planning has intensified in recent weeks. Administration officials have discussed using the federal government to get homeless people off the streets of Los Angeles and other cities and into new government-backed facilities, according to two officials briefed on the planning.

“But it is unclear how they could accomplish this and what legal authority they would use. It is also unclear whether the state’s Democratic politicians would cooperate with Trump, who has sought to embarrass them over the homelessness crisis with repeated attacks on their competency.”

Look, if I believed even for a moment that there was some good in Prznint Stupid’s heart for his fellow man, this is still problematical: under what authority and which laws do you pick up people and put them somewhere else, and where exactly do you put them? Would he really be willing to pay to help someone other than himself?

And that’s just the logistics of the problem. It is not as if it solves all the intractable societal issues around the homeless (addiction, mental illness, lack of income, food insecurity, etc.)  once you have a roof over their heads, as noble as that would be. There will be more homeless, and that is a sad guarantee. And if you think Ben Carson has any interest in helping the homeless, I got a refrigerator box under the bridge that would be a great fixer-upper. He’s trying to kick people out of HUD’s low-income housing.

So what is really going on here?

So there’s nothing here, even at face value, that is positive. Comrade Stupid is only trying to create a new wedge in Blue States (homelessness is not unique to California and knows no political affiliation) that only he, The Chosen One, can fix.

California=Blue State. West Coast Liberals. Gay communities in San Francisco. Enforcing EPA emission rules against the relaxed Trump rules.

What sickens me about this whole business is the same thing that sickens me about how Trump and his administration treat immigrants: dehumanizing people in unfortunate and desperate situations. We all know that Trump lacks the ability to empathize with the poor and disenfranchised. He sees them as undesirables and losers who need to be institutionalized and removed from the streets because they are trash.

No resolution or solution that Trump comes up with will be humane or decent or workable. Because what he really wants to do is irradicate what he sees as the vermin. And that makes him a monster.

Its not complicated. Figure out which of his crony buddies is going to run the homeless concentration camps, probably the same folks running his immigrant camps and then we just need to figure out where they’re sending Trumps kick backs. Trump doesn’t do anything if he is not getting a taste….

Exactly, what the hell is going on here? I have many questions. Can these so-called ‘government-backed facilities’ also be called prisons? Will the ‘homeless’ be allowed to come and go as they please? Will these ‘facilities’ be like a roach motel where you check in but never check out? Why just CA homeless and not the rest of the country? This whole thing stinks to high heaven and we should all be following the money because you just know draining the treasury is the main objective here.

Hello TG. Are we reliving a weird Twilight Zone replay of history with the roles of good vrs bad reversed? Everything that has happened in the last three years seems like a remake of the 1930’s. This has happened in history and it has never work out well for anyone. Hugs

It’s basically a PR stunt, as well as getting in a dig or two. and throwing some serious shade at Cali. Plus, besides, they claim that over-regulation is one of the main causes of the problem, and then want to create a new bureaucracy with all the new attendant rules and regulations that would require. In reality, all he’s doing is making it look like he’s doing something; he can’t call in the military, or try to wrest control of the Nat. Guard to start rounding up and shipping off the poor, into camps that were designed by Joe Arpaio.

Typical tRump MO, btw. Start by crying about a “problem that no one has fixed,or even tried to,” that evolves into a crisis, which then morphs into a “National Emergency,” and then effect the cruelest cure you can come up with, and declare, “Problem solved. See, I told you I’m the only one who could have solved it, and I did.”

Look at No. Ko., the Trade Wars, Iran, Paris Agreement, etc., etc. – no matter the degree or disarray, our MHSG considers them all “Winners.” And the “reverse Midas Effect” has me a bit nervous, too.

Just think, if Trump’s private prison industry contributors can collect $750/day per child from the taxpayers for abusing children, imagine how much money they could collect for detaining and abusing troubled adults? It would be Trump’s wildest dream come true to force California taxpayers alone to pay that tab to his campaign contributors.

Who pays the $775 a night for the immigrants? Will they pay for homeless now also? It’s all a money game, don’t kid yourselves.
Donnie doll hands will make money off of everything he does.

If there are homeless children, will they be separated from the parents and sold off to one of Betsy’s christian families? I imagine white children might fetch a decent buck.
And yes, this would be concentration camps for the homeless. RWNJs will cheer.

I suddenly thought of gypsies. Did anyone else happen to think about gypsies just now?
Now I’m thinking that the logo for these camps should be, maybe, a black triangle. Stylish, right?
