Death of the Media

Now try getting out of the tree.

This article in Politico says it all:

“Four states are poised to cancel their 2020 GOP presidential primaries and caucuses, a move that would cut off oxygen to Donald Trump’s long-shot primary challengers.

“Republican parties in South Carolina, Nevada, Arizona and Kansas are expected to finalize the cancellations in meetings this weekend, according to three GOP officials who are familiar with the plans.”

But then, they goof and say (emboldening mine):

“The moves are the latest illustration of Trump’s takeover of the entire Republican Party apparatus. They underscore the extent to which his allies are determined to snuff out any potential nuisance en route to his renomination — or even to deny Republican critics a platform to embarrass him.”

Trump did not take over any apparatus, he got more RNC delegate votes than any candidate in GOP history. The Russian Usurper is not a symptom, he is the party and the party is him, and the sooner Politico realizes this, the better their coverage will be.

Kansas did this the first time GW was running, too; they were concerned that Elizabeth Dole would beat GW in the primary (and she would have.) So, the legislature, majority Republican wingnuts (as it is now, except it’s even nuttier,) cancelled primaries to save budget money. Plenty of Republican voters were burning angry, and still voted (and continue to vote) Republican.

It’s cute but somewhat sad when worthless ad rags like Tiger Beat on the Potomac feign cluelessness and a sudden oft forgotten journalistic standard regarding their role by having enabled morally bankrupt republicans and by giving publicity to such vulgar fools like fat nixon. FFS

The Democrats have also done in some states and some elections but only when there were no opponents of the incumbent president. This instance is clearly different and authoritarian in nature.
