Batten-Down The Hatch Act: BS Barbie In The News

BS Barbie Has Had some Work Done

The 4th Reich officially declared that spokesperson Bullshit Barbie, er, Kellyanne “Let me know when the jail sentence starts” Conway would NOT honor House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings’  polite request that she have a nice chit-chat with him about all the times she has gleefully violated the Hatch Act.

A federal agency said earlier this month that she was a repeat offender of the Hatch Act and she should be fired.

And per usual, the White House has invented yet another new privilege! This one is really rich:

“White House counsel Pat Cipollone wrote in a letter to Cummings that he was citing longstanding precedent that allows members of the White House to decline invitations to testify before Congress.

“As you know, the precedent for members of the White House staff to decline invitations to testify before congressional committees has been consistently adhered to by administrations of both political parties, and is based on clearly established constitutional doctrines,” Cipollone wrote.”

  2. The sad thing is, they’re just getting away with it; an utter disregard for the rule of law, and they’re not getting held accountable. THAT is how our democracy is getting flushed fdown the drain…

    LOCK THEM UP!

“As you know” fits perfectly with the classic Soviet propaganda phrase, “It is well known that,” which was always a dead giveaway that the assertion that followed was pure fabrication.”

Again and again I think of the HBO series “Chernobyl” and the political culture of lies it condemned. Applies perfectly here

That’s it, keep it up, I’ll end up having to watch Chernobyl eventually. We lived the news you know, but we didn’t get the inside scoop on Russia at the time.

I was also reluctant to watch it, in a “Do I really need to look at this, now?” kind of way. But when I started I binge-watched it in two days, and I have rewatched it a few times, it’s that well done. As a docudrama, it takes some liberties for dramatic effect, but it is brilliant, and the theme about government fostering a political culture of lies couldn’t be more timely, IYKWIMAITYD.

I am sort of serious in my snark. It’s recommended here and it will be interesting to see how the history is portrayed compared to what I remember. That adds up to I’ll have to watch it. Eventually.
