Facebook says that it has been working to create a cryptocurrency called Libra.
Facebook says it would be a new global currency standard that’s stable, guaranteed by tangible assets, AND that it would be like a traditional bank (accounts, loans, ATMs, etc.).
Facebook wants to offer the service to benefit the developing world, and its 1.7 billion Facebook users who don’t have access to banking.
What could go wrong, other than making about a third of the world dependent upon Facebook?
Come-on, has Faceberg ever lied to us?
[Scratches head, starts counting on fingers]
Facebook’s long, Long, LONG list of privacy scandals, the distribution of FAKE NEWZ!!11! on its platform, and the way it’s been used by Russia and other bad actors to tamper with democratic (small “d”, but you know, Large D, too/also) elections AROUND THE WORLD have made reasonable people skeptical that Faceberg should be trusted with anything, let alone the money of people in the developing world.
