Silencers of the Lambs

Shorter SCOTUS: “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms WITH SILENCERS FOR ASSASSINATIONS shall not be infringed.”

We’re so eff’ed in the dark.

Nothing is ever going to be done about our slaughter-by-guns as long as there is a Republican majority in any branch of the gubmint.

Vote them all out. Every last Republican.

[Ed – Mea Culpa. I conflated two different cases/causes, one of which was to ban silencers. I still don’t think registering silencers is enough, but I admit I got it wrong. But we still gotta vote out the Republicans! – TG]

My understanding of the rejection is that it is okay to put restrictions on sale and use of silencers, but you are making me think otherwise. Am i wrong that the persons charged with sale and use lost the appeal since the SC rejected it?

And believe it or else not, Hair Furor actually DID something that brings us one tiny step closer to regulating firearms, by banning “bumpstocks.”

My understanding is that all you currently have to do to get a silencer is to fill out some paperwork. It appears that everybody who does so gets approved. But the amosexuals are not happy with this because it can take several months to get the approval and THE GOVERNMENT NOW HAS ALL THE INFORMATION IT NEEDS TO COME AND TAKE THESE PEOPLE’S GUNS AWAY!!!! So they tried to get this little roadblock removed and the Supremes said no.

They’re covered under the National Firearms Act. You have to undergo a more thorough background check, register the silencer, let the local police know you have it and they can periodically check to see that it’s properly stored, inform the local police and the ATF of sale or transfer. And there’s a $200 tax which back in the 1930’s was a big hurdle but it hasn’t increased with inflation, so, shrug.

But almost nobody commits crimes with NFA firearms because of all of the above. The ammosexuals say gun control doesn’t work, but if you press them about the fact that there are people who own fully automatic weapons etc covered by NFA, they will volunteer the fact that essentially NOBODY commits crime with them; and then it’s, oooooh so gun control can work??

I’ve been thinking for years we should bring all handguns and semi-automatic rifles under the NFA and we’d have gone a long, long way to solving the gun problem.
