In less than 30 seconds of audio from his recent meeting with a Pensacola-based group called Women for Responsible Legislation, Florida Rep. Mike Hill proved why he is both an unfit legislator and an unfit Christian…
A citizen comments: “In 1 Corinthians, it says that a man who has an affair with another man will be put to death.”
“It says that in the Old Testament, too.”
Another attendee asks, “Can you introduce legislation?”
Chuckles are audible. The state representative joins the laughter. “I wonder how that would go over?” Hill says.
And Jesus wept.
But what makes this go from face-palming bad to head-pounding bad is that he decided that he needed to apologize:
Florida state Rep. Mike Hill appeared on QAnon conspiracy theorist Ann Vandersteel's show today to apologize for laughing off a constituent's recommendation that he introduce legislation to put gay people to death. https://t.co/Rz68P5RFNN pic.twitter.com/wHCxLqjz00

And there you have it: he’s not apologizing for saying it, he’s apologizing for making fun of his homophobic constituent who suggested putting the ‘mos to death.
