‘Oops,’ Part Infinity

“oops,” said Internet power-user Mark Faceberg.

Here’s something from a piece on a NBC News article that seems buried to me, but gets right to the heart of how Facebook IS the platform of choice for hate groups to use for organizing attacks (emphasis mine):

“Melissa Ryan, an extremism researcher at Hope Not Hate, an advocacy group that tries to counter racism, said that Facebook needs to recognize when extremists from other parts of the internet are congregating on its social network.

“At this point, given all we know about how extremists organize across platforms, there’s no excuse for Facebook,” Ryan said. “Facebook still sees this as a PR problem and not a human lives problem. They have to be shamed to enforce their own policies. Until they actually see this as a human-centered problem, they’re always going to be reacting instead of working to stop these things from happening.”

The author goes on to suggest ways that Facebook could counter it, if they had the will. I’m not putting any Quatloos down on that ever happening.

Meanwhile, Faceberg returns to his roots. Hawt or Nawt? That’s a hard pass. Imagine what they would do with that info? The mind boggles.

They claim they can’t shut down the extreme-right-wing hate groups because their algorithms can’t distinguish between them and most “normal” Rethuglicon’s pages, and they don’t want to “exclude anyone needlessly,” and they just don’t have the manpower to judge every page one-by-one. At the same time, they have NO problem with suspending tRump antagonizers and those who just utter a few harsh words against him on their own home pages.
All it takes is just ONE disgruntled tRump sub-porter to complain, and you’re either in FB jail for 30 days, or put on “probation,” or you get a sternly-worded warning.

And did you see where Faceberg did his totally genius thang by inventing for his doting wife a “sleep box”? That brilliant hack certainly answered once and for all time who actually wrote the original FB code…

Isn’t Faceberg Jewish? I know the latest killer was an 8chan arsehole but I imagine there are many vicious anti-Semitics advocating the worst things on FB too. That said, though my FB page is thoroughly civilized, I don’t really go there anymore because I sm disgusted with Faceberg and his company’s privacy violations for money.
