You Think There’s No Difference Between The Parties? Think Again!

And away we go!

The Senate has confirmed former coal industry lobbyist Andrew Wheeler to lead the EPA, which is responsible for ensuring we have clean air and safe drinking water. It was a party-line vote, 52 -47 (one senator was not present?).

“Why appoint someone who is in bed with a lobbyist when you can appoint the lobbyist himself?” –Prznint Stupid didn’t say, probably.

I hate being this political about our existential threat (not really!) BUT: I hope the Yutes of Today can see there is a YUGE difference between the parties, and only one of them is thinking about what kind of world they are going to inherit. If the Green New Deal did not make this clear enough, Climate Change is now a stealth goat in the 2020 Goat Rodeo.

Jay Inslee might be making the right decision.

  1. My Senator, Krysten Sinema. She’s in New Zealand, apparently. competing in a triathalon. See the end of the local political reporter’s column today https://tucson.com/news/local/steller-s-friday-notebook-two-and-a-half-years-later/article_e6e02098-7ba5-558b-9a0d-1d122f56bfbd.html (along with local gossip on infighting in the local GOP) Sigh. This is the level of reporting we have

Hey at least we still have a local political reporter even if we don’t have one covering the State lege, let alone Washington.

I’ve gotta admit it’s a question. According to the U.S. Senate calendar there are 10 “state work periods” lasting between 3 days to a month. Krysten might be a force, but I don’t see how that will work if she needs more time away from the senate than what is already written into the schedule. It;s rookie stuff. If you are the rookie, you need to be even more on your game than 2nd year senators.

So the last I heard, Susan Collins said she would not vote for him. Color me shocked to find that what she said and what she did are not the same!

The articles I’ve read indicate the yutes of today aren’t attracted to the Goopers. They don’t hate gays, immigrants, or brown people and they’d prefer a livable planet to enjoy in their later years. The preferences of the young are why states like Texas and, I hope, Arizona, are trending blue. The future of the GOP is as bleak as FatNixon’s.
