Little Kremlin-on-the-Potomac Update (Kinda?)

Need I say more

Tiger Beat has a throw-away article that buries the lead:

“Schiff and House Financial Services Chairwoman Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) — both prominent Trump foes — are launching a joint investigation into Deutsche Bank and its transactions with The Trump Organization.”

This is really significant if the two committees are going to work together on this, not just because it doubles the staff looking into the malfeasance, but because each of the staffs on these committees are specialized experts in their own areas.

“On NBC’s “Meet the Press,” the California Democrat cited reporting that Trump had once sought to fire Mueller over reports that investigators had subpoenaed Deutsche Bank — crossing a “red line” into his family’s finances — but that the president backed down after being told the claims were inaccurate.

“If the special counsel hasn’t subpoenaed Deutsche Bank, he can’t be doing much of a money laundering investigation,” Schiff said.

“So, that’s what concerns me — that that red line has been enforced, whether by the deputy attorney general or by some other party at the Justice Department. But that leaves the country exposed.”

This is sort of like my argument about reforming the media: the reporters don’t need to be told what news to cover or how to cover it, they already know what the boss wants. And just like that, some toady in the Justice Department instinctively did what The Donald wanted, and avoids being You’re Fired’ed.

Schiff and Waters cannot be You’re Fired’ed by Trump, only by their constituents.

Remember, the Feds got Capone on tax charges, not on murder. If The Russian Usurper is going to get indicted for something, it will be about money. As much fun as the Pee Tape is to think about, the real smoking gun is going to be tax fraud and money laundering.

  1. DECADES of tax fraud and money laundering. He’s been doing it with the Russians since they busted out the Soviet Union.

I’ll take anything, tax fraud, obstruction of justice, money laundering, conspiracy, unpaid parking tickets, bad hair and crimes against common decency. Just get rid of him.

Although I would hate for this to drag out that long, the perfect time for an indictment on this matter would be October 2020.

Donnie must have heard the Capone stories, too. He sure is resistant to having his taxes subpoenaed and reviewed. If that whole objection is more than just a distraction, it could be a smocking gun.

It took the Feds many years of investigation to get Big Al Capone and Tax Evasion was the most practical. We can only hope Mr. Mueller is more efficient.
