Grifters Gotta Grift: The Ungriftening!

The Wall

Hey guys, remember that guy, Brian Kolfage, who set up a GoFundMe to raise money to pay for Comrade Trump’s Tortilla Curtain?

Seems GoFundMe has shut the thing down!

“When the campaign was created, the campaign organizer specifically stated on the campaign page, ‘If we don’t reach our goal or come significantly close we will refund every single penny,'” GoFundMe told CNN. “He also stated on the campaign page, ‘100% of your donations will go to the Trump Wall. If for ANY reason we don’t reach our goal we will refund your donation.'”

“That did not happen. This means all donors will receive a refund,” GoFundMe told CNN.

However, the campaign page was still up early Saturday and accepting donations, and it’s unclear when it will be taken down. GoFundMe said it is up to the campaign organizer to determine when it will be shut down.

So what’s a grifter gotta do to steal a buck around here?

Kolfage said that he has determined that the federal government is not in a place to accept the money, so he intends on having a team to build a wall privately.

In place of the GoFundMe campaign, Kolfage set up a 501(c)(4) non-profit Florida Corporation named “We Build the Wall, Inc.” and is asking donors to redirect their contributions to the organization.

You cannot keep a good grifter down! So now he’s found a way to keep those sweet, sweet Ameros and no doubt pay him a nominal salary to keep the grift going. More about 501(c)(4) is here.

I don’t think that a private company can build a border wall without a government contract, government procuring the land, and government supervision of the project. It is a “border” wall which means it would fall under the department of homeland security as I understand the department break down. Otherwise you would need permission from states and landowners making it a private wall and who would maintain it and patrol along it. This has to be a scam for sure. Hugs

Oh yes, it’s a scam for all the reasons you just mentioned and others but that’s point. Kolfage has no intention of doing anything with the contributions except make himself rich. There are a lot of dumb conservatives out there.

Thanks. I agree. But why does go fund me have to wait to take his page down? They yank pages all the time with no warning or waiting period. Could it be they are afraid of the backlash from the tRump deplorable cult? Hugs

It is implied at the CNN link that he is being allowed to notify the donors about the alternative, his 501(c) (4), at the GoFundMe page. If that is correct, there is probably a set time that GoFundMe’s lawyers have chosen (if it isn’t already in their contract) to allow those who really want to throw their money into this soap er… oathkeepers? opera to make the transfer.

Surely you’re not suggesting that a patriotic war veteran would deliberately try to scam ordinary Americans out of their hard-earned money?
Are there no depths to which you will not sink to spread this leftist filth?
    Shame on you!

(In a previous life I spent considerable time, on and off, working right on the border in the upper Rio Grande valley. That river has never really been accepted as a border in the community mind there, so much as simply a river that just happens to sometimes lie between family members’ dwellings, a sensibility that goes back all the way to Spanish Colonial times. Sneaking across on a Sunday afternoon to stroll over for dinner at Grandma’s house, then back again the same evening was, and I imagine still is, pretty damn routine. Tough country down there, with equally tough, and decent, people.)

I remember reading in a “how to make money at home” book (get rich quick schemes, it turned out) years decades ago, a list that included non-profits as a way to provide oneself with an income. You have to have a salary, they said, just take it out of the donations. they said. Whatever is left over can go to your projects, they said.

According to NBC another reason Kolfage had for the GoGundMe campaign was that it was “a wide-ranging and multipronged effort to collect a list of Trump supporters who have proven to be sources of donations for conservative efforts. They were doubly HAD.
