Check, Please!

“K-Pasta, amoebas!”

On his way yesterday to the border in McAllen, Texas, Comrade Stupid lied AGAIN:

“When, during the campaign, I would say, ‘Mexico is going to pay for it,’ obviously, I never said this and I never meant they’re going to write out a check.”

Spoiler alert: El Prznintdenty did specifically assert that Mexico would make direct payments:

But in April 2016, Trump’s campaign outlined the steps he would take to compel Mexico to pay the US “$5-10 billion” to fund a border wall — a plan that relies largely on threatening to bar undocumented Mexican immigrants in the United States from wiring money to relatives in Mexico.

Good lord, it’s in writing in his position papers!

“It’s an easy decision for Mexico: make a one-time payment of $5-10 billion to ensure that $24 billion continues to flow into their country year after year,” the memo said.

And this is not extortion how, exactly?

  2. Sirius Lunacy says:

Also, they’d actually be paying 5 to 10 billion dollars to build a wall meant to stop the flow of 24 billion dollars year after year. So why would they even consider that? Possum Hollar logic at its finest.

Sirius – the threat is to cut off undocumenteds from using Western Union and similar money-wiring services, by requiring a valid US ID before any $$$ can be sent South. Where the $24 billion figure came from, I can’t say, but tRump likens it to Welfare for Mexicans, a social-service safety net that the Poorz can’t live without, since Mexico doesn’t have a system similar to ours. Just more hostage-taking, and blackmail.

“I never said that and it is not what I meant when I said it.”
    [how’s that go, now…]

  4. Jules MomCat says:

What??? Mexico will pay to build the wall, so thousands of fleeing Hondurans and El Salvadorans will stay in Mexico??? SHURRRRE!
