Fox News Shuts Down The Gubmint

Before there was Fox News…

The Reliable Sources email thingie last night posits (idiosyncratic emboldening theirs):

Trump can withstand criticism from mainstream media outlets. His base doesn’t pay much attention to the news organizations that fall under this category, and he can dismiss unflattering reports from outlets like CNN, NYT, and WaPo as so-called “fake news.”

Are they really claiming Possum Hollar reads? Continue!

“The problem for Trump is when he’s on the receiving end of sharp criticism from the outlets that his base does, in fact, pay attention to. That’s what happened this week. Fox News personalities, Rush Limbaugh, the Drudge Report, Breitbart, and others all excoriated Trump for what they have characterized as him caving on his pledge to build a wall on the US-Mexico border.

Some of you may have seen the news that Comrade Stupid unfollowed Ann Coulter (insert horse whinny here) on Twitter moments after she criticized him on Fox. But I digress.

“On Thursday, it seemed that the pressure cracked the president. Trump announced he would not sign a measure to provide funding for the government if it didn’t include funding for a wall…

It’s long been the position of MPS that Comrade Stupid is cracked, so we get that scoop. But seriously, think about this. The Russian Usurper changed course and decided to shut down the gubmint when Fox News filleted him on television. Weak!

Early Thursday, CNN’s Kaitlan Collins tweeted that Trump was monitoring the coverage he was receiving and telling aides to “fix it.” Soon after, Rush Limbaugh, who was lacing into Trump over the wall funding, said he received a message. “You tell Rush that if there’s no money in this, it’s getting vetoed,” Limbaugh said, describing the message he received. “If there’s no money for a wall, I’m vetoing this plain and simple.” Limbaugh later added, “The president has gotten word to em that he is either getting funding for the border or he’s shutting the whole thing down.”

So the message of the change of plans did not go to Congress, or through whatever constitutes normal channels, it went to Junkie Limbaugh to get the word out? He didn’t even let his toadies and minions in the Senate know? And they were all dashing for the private jets and loving embrace of their donors when he changed his alleged mind?

“Howard Fineman, over on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” put it more bluntly: “Right now it looks like the administration is being run by a combination of Laura Ingraham and Vladimir Putin…”

And that about sums up how policy in The Fourth Reich comes about.

Nope. No gut feeling here. He uses the ‘wet finger in the wind’ method.

As I was munching on my morning cereal, I happened to notice a picture of Paul Ryan’s spine on the back of the milk carton, with the caption, “Have you seen me?” Apparently, it’s been lost or missing ever since Speaker Ryan arrived in DC to begin his illustrious career in politics.

Ryan admitted he was considering the fact that a spine just might come in handy, following his return to civilian life as a lobbyist. He also expressed concern over rumors that his spine has been hidden in a closet full of skeletons of questionable backgrounds, and that contact with those types of companions may have tainted his delicate vertebrae.

My quatloos are riding on McConnell getting enough votes in the Senate (51) to start debate on the House bill, then he’ll need to figure out how to bribe Schumer and the Dems to fold so this gets rammed through rammed through.
Shouldn’t be too terribly difficult, judging from history, but I guess we’ll see.

Meanwhile, RBG has cancerous growths removed from her lungs, so the odds of Trump getting another Kavanaugh installed just went in a direction which makes any serious GOP defections in the Senate (such as for an impeachment conviction, say) even less likely, and they were never good in the first place.

The project of changing the architecture of this republic beyond rescue in any of our lifetimes just took another dangerous lurch toward the finish line.

Maybe it’s just me (it isn’t) but I think it’s terrible enough that we have Trump posing as president, but added to that shitpile is the extra helping of “we’re being run by FOX news bobbleheads and that fat fuck, Rush Limbaugh”.

Those morons influence and essentially control what happens via a dim-witted, overstuffed suit. He doesn’t read! He doesn’t confer intelligently with the people who actually know what they’re doing! He won, illegitimately, a fixed election and he thought it was a popularity contest, not a position where he would have to do any actual work.

Jeezus! How can we get rid of this sideshow Bozo?
