Climbing the Ladder of Success

In response to yesterday’s News That Will Drive You To Drink about Possum Hollar raising money for racism, several Scissorheads have sent me links to yet another GoFundMe page that purports to be for ladders to help our brothers and sisters get over the wall. As I write this they have already raised over $30K Ameros to buy ladders…

Well, not really, you see it’s a fund-raising plea for Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES), a Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees. Or as they said, “Supporting an organization working to help immigrants seeking legal asylum. This GoFundMe isn’t really about ladders at all. It’s about lifting people up.”

This is pretty great and good works on the part of some Twitter activists who saw an opportunity. Bravo!

I like it. It is important work as these folks do not have the money to buy ( hire ) a for profit attorney. Hugs
