The Little Kremlin-on-the-Potomac Jam Sessions

Little Kremlin-on-the-Potomac

“Run, little Trumpling, run!”

Atty. Gen. Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III turned in his forced resignation letter yesterday, which brings into sharp relief the survival of Mr. Mueller’s investigation into the Russians-Trump shenanigans of the 2016 Goat Rodeo.

Tiger Beat on the Potomac morning email thingie tells us:

THIS IS LITERALLY PERFECT investigative fodder for Hill Democrats. Republicans can’t really say this is overreach. It would seem if Democrats could handpick an investigation to kick off next Congress, this would be it.

And let’s recall that Senatorette Lindsey Graham once said (before he began auditioning for the role) that, “If Jeff Sessions is fired, there will be holy hell to pay.” Such a kidder, that Lindsey!

Let’s examine!

Make no mistake. Prznint Stupid You’re Fired’ed ol’ Jefferson Beauregard because he wants to shut down Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. He also threatened Democrats with retribution if they use their hard-won investigative power to hold him accountable:

Then Comrade Trump installed Sessions’ chief of staff, Matthew Whitaker as his acting replacement; you might recall that just before joining the Justice Department last year, Whitaker was a critic of the scope of The Totally Rigged Witch Hunt, and now he’s in charge of supervising it. Whitaker offered us a roadmap of how he will handle it:

“I could see a scenario where Jeff Sessions is replaced with a recess appointment and that attorney general doesn’t fire Bob Mueller, but he just reduces his budget to so low that his investigation grinds to almost a halt.”

So, we know that Whitaker is likely to ignore his on-the-record conflicts of interests and take away authority over the Mueller investigation from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is probably a dead-man walking, anyway.

Be prepared for a shock, Gentle Readers: Whitaker is not (yet) recused from acting against the Mueller investigation, in spite of all this. Trump picked Whitaker because he believes that Whitaker is a Trump Super Fan Boy.

Whitaker is clearly, proudly corrupt.

But here’s the thing: Democrats will be able to investigate the Trump-Russia conspiracy, including Prznint Stupid’s new efforts to obstruct the Mueller investigation.

Trump knows this, which is why his first Tweet was the threat that he and Senate Republicans would use their investigative powers to harass Democrats if Democrats investigate Trump. (See the tweet above – that’s important if you want to talk about another collusion/cover-up!)

Trump believes that amply be-chinned Mitch McConnell will aid him if Democrats start any oversight, and he’s sure that Senate Republicans will stop any attempt to impeach him and remove him from office.

(and I think that brings us up-to-speed on where we are now.)

Those savvy Dimocraps in the House know that while impeachment is up to them, it’s the SENATE that convicts, following an issuance of Articles of Impeachment, approved and submitted by the House. Knowing full well that the Senate won’t convict, they will absolutely pursue other avenues, such as their Power of Subpoena, to investigate Hair Furor’s tax returns, and his numerous violations of the Emoluments Clause.
I wish them well, but a full-blown Constitutional Crisis may well stymie their efforts. Much like the inhabitant of a glass coffin…………remains to be seen.

    • Question: Is there any sort of legal impediment to publicly crowdfunding a DOJ investigation?

You don’t think the grassroots who raised a billion dollars this campaign season for the likes of Beto and Gillum couldn’t supply him with a few hundred mil in a heartbeat?

Also, if they do shut the investigation down and try to bury the report in Warehouse 13, I’ll for a latter-day Mike Gravel to stand up and read the Mueller report into the Congressional Record.

      Paging Spartacus Senator Booker!

        BDR –

I think that the first thing that would happen would be to subpoena Mueller and have him reveal all his records, in public testimony.

        Hairball meets hardball.

A republican house has had their turn at pissing off liberals. Now it’s the Democrats turn to piss off conservatives. Unfortunately, conservatives are armed and dangerous.

Trump threatens bogus investigations of Democrats if the House does it’s job. Not much different from what they’ve been doing for years.
