In a statement, Rosenstein called the story factually incorrect and said there are no grounds for using the 25th.
Now Prznint Stupid has an excuse. Rosenstein is toast, and if he is toast, then so is Mueller.

For a year both McConnell and Ryan have been saying there is no reason to pass bills to protect Mueller. Well now this will either prove them wrong, or more wrong. However I doubt anything will happen till after the mid terms. As any attempt to fire him now and to interfere with the special council will be grand advertising for the Dem candidates and will totally push the independents and fence sitters to the Dem side. From what I have been able to find it was a statement taken totally out of context. I really do wonder at the people pushing to the reporters at this time. The sources for this lied and distorted it, so there was an agenda. It clearly was a planted story and the paper fell for it. Hugs

Cohen is spilling his guts and Manafort has flipped. The timing of this is a lot too convenient. His lickspittles in Congress refuse to admit that President Toadstool would have them all voted out if it meant his survival. Shit may about to get really real.

Nunes and his stooges have been pushing for declassification of DOJ memos and one of those is the real source for this story, at least the “wire” part of the story. It was a toss-off comment Rosenstein made to Andy McCabe who put it in a memo. The part about the 25th Amendment was not in McCabe’s memo, was denied by people actually in the room, and appears to be made up out of whole cloth to frame Rosenstein by providing a motive for the “wire” comment. Michael Schmidt dutifully carried water for Nunes and the WH on this hit job, and whether it provides a pretense for firing Rosenstein or merely distracting from the Kavanaugh scandal or the Cohen cooperation story, remains to be seen. It has the potential of backfiring bigtime if real reporting can get traction to show what an outright ratfuck this is and what a disgrace Michael Schmidt is to journalism.
