Bork! Bork!

Yesterday both Christine Blasey Ford and Brett Kavanaugh agreed to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee under oath sometime next week. And if Ford is credible, then there is a possibility that Kavanaugh gets bork’ed.

Here’s the likely scenario: Ford will describe what happened in detail, and Kavanaugh will counter something like the legally-approved, “I don’t recall that happening” or the better, “to the best of my ability I do not recall that happening,” which are weasel words and everyone will know that it totally happened.

(Being raised by two lawyers, I can assure you that fights with my siblings almost always included that phrase, with one or both parents giving the perp the stink eye.)

So we get to watch the spectacle of Republican Senators saying that they believe him and not her. And some of those Senators are up for re-election in the 2018 Pie Fight. Should be interesting, indeed.

Kurt Andersen offers the inta-resting theory that Kav. was so drunk, he may legitimately not remember the incident, and so could pass a lie detector test about it and everything.

Prof Blasey Ford is brave (?) to agree to participate in this shit-show, especially after knowing what Anita Hill went through 27 years ago. And Onan Hatch is still on that damned committee, which still has on it Republicans who are white men. Republicans are evil misogynist fucks. I am so nervous for her.

Both Hatch and Grassley are also really nasty people. Hatch, especially. I think Kavanaugh is going to emerge as a seriously damaged individual in terms of his character and judgement. We already knew he was a crass partisan hack from his days in Chimpy’s administration. But McConnell will push ahead anyway and Collins and Murkowski will, of course, fold, as always and he’ll, be confirmed. When that happens, I really think the mid-terms will be a bloodbath for the GOP.

      • Yeah, well the midterms may be a bloodbath, for the R’s but THEY WON’T CARE

They’re getting their Gilded Age anti-Roe, anti-Griswold, pro-Lochner corporate rubber-stamp “court” back and we’re effed in the dark, in the daylight and everywhere in between.

They’re doing this because they know it’ll be a bloodbath, he’l be installed come October and when they get up to their grand plan of indecent fuckery in the lame duck session he’ll be there to helpfully knock down any opposition.

I’m firmly of the opinion that come November we’re going to be subject to what will be essentially a right-wing coup.

Yes, it will be interesting to watch conservatives throw their principles right out the window in order to make their ideology conform to reality. Of course, it’s not like they’ve been using this tactic exponentially during the age of Trump or anything. No? YES!

President Skidmark needs Justice Gang Bang on the court to avoid the otherwise inevitable. Can’t wait til November 6th…..and the days after.

Will they let him the rapist question the victim, or simply sit right behind her while testifying?

unfortunately, as of now, her lawyer says she won’t be there, and who could blame her. that team of old white men would be throwing her hand grenades while they’d be lobbing him softballs making him look like the real victim. but who knows? she just may yet change her mind.
