Thanks Beto: Zero-Sum Game in Texas

Ted Cruz Fan Club

One of the many reasons we should be grateful to Beto O’Rourke (besides that he is really a good candidate) is that now amply be-chinned Mitch McConnell has to direct big Ameros to shore up the sinking/stinking campaign of the completely unlikeable Ayatollah Ted.

And this means those Ameros cannot go to another candidate to bring a new seat into the GOP’s grasp or shore up a more save-able seat.

Texas is a very big and expensive state to run television ads, y’all.

And what makes it so wonderful (in my mind, anyway) is that Cruz’ colleagues genuinely hate him

  1. When I was in San Antonio for a few days last month, I saw so many Beto signs in neighborhoods. It made me so happy!

  3. Here in the TSKoA, they had a blurb on the local snooz about record turnout for last month’s primaries: 33%

Around 524,000 Democrats turned out, compared to around 377,000 Democrats who turned out in the 2016 primary. And around 671,000 Republicans voted, compared to around 606,000 Republicans in 2016.

    We’re here, we’re pissed, we’re voting.

Problem is that the Turtle can always rely on cynical billionaires to shove endless amounts of cash into any race so, while I agree that it theoretically the TX Senate race is a bad trend, I doubt if it will actually constrict the amount of money the GOP can spend on their candidates.
