    Yeah, I got this one too. I miss that TV series (if not the war, of course).

      According to historian David Halberstam, the obvious giveaway that the TV series was really about Vietnam was that in the real Korean War all the men had crewcuts.

        Plus the TV series was made in the 1970s. But, a little pushback on the crewcut idea. That maybe true of the marines but my father and all his brothers were in WW II and none of them sported crewcuts in the war. Short in the back and sides but normal up top.
