A Metaphor for Our Times?

The Toledo Blade reports A $40 million yacht owned by the family of U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos — one of 10 yachts owned by the DeVos family — was docked in Huron, which sits along Lake Erie, when someone untied it, and  unmoored, it drift away.

    i’m still trying to figure out the attraction of sailing a luxury yacht off the coast of ohio. to me it’s like water-skiing in a swimming pool. sure, you might be able to do it but why?

      To you it’s dumb. To the DeVoses it’s like that gated community – it reinforces the idea that, well, “It’s nothing personal, it’s just that we’re better than you.”
