Ryan rules out House action on tariffs.
“You would have to pass a law saying ‘don’t raise those tariffs’ and the president would have to sign that law. That’s not going to happen.”— Erica Werner (@ericawerner) July 12, 2018
A veto, as we all know, can be overridden by Congress.
We bring this up because short-termer Senator Bob Corker introduced a bill (co-sponsored by five Democrats and four Republicans) that would require Comrade Stupid to get congressional approval before enacting any more tariffs on national-security grounds.
But all is not lost, Soybeaners of Possum Hollar! ZEGS says:
“What’s more effective and constructive is to work with the administration to get the policy in a good place and that’s what we’re doing,” Ryan said during a press conference in the U.S. Capitol. “That’s going to be more effective than trying to pass a piece of legislation that will not make it into law.”
I guess he’s never met Comrade Trump?
Whatever is “worked out” with the administration is obliterated the next time Comrade Stupid is sitting on the toilet stroking his twitter machine. Ryan is REALLY LOUSY at his job which is why he’s on the way out and just making excuses for his ineptitude.

Sad! I still remember this from 6-th grade civics class:
“If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the same shall be a Law, in like manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its return, in which case it shall not be a Law.”
So no, he does not have to sign a bill for it to become law. Jeez, ZEGS (thanks, Charlie!)

Typical Gooper. “I’m Just a Bill” applies only when a Democwat president is in office.
