It Takes A Thief, Redux (SCOTUS News)

This is probably the most cynical bit of politicking if true (and I suspect that it is):

“[Amy Barrett’s] popularity with religious conservatives has now led some to view her as a savvy Supreme Court pick for President Donald Trump as he looks to replace Kennedy with a justice who may prove the deciding vote on upending Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision established a constitutional right to abortion.”

But why, you ask?

“A confrontation with [Sen. DiFi] during her confirmation hearing to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals last October vaulted Barrett, 46, onto the national stage. As Feinstein pressed her on whether she would be able to render judicial rulings faithful to the law given her deeply held religious beliefs, Barrett became a hero to religious conservatives who believe liberal Democrats target them for their faith.

“The dogma lives loudly within you, and that’s of concern when you come to big issues that people have fought for for years in this country,” Feinstein told Barrett.”

So, the Xristian Xrazies are all in for a Skirt because she made DiFi angry?

“If we go down a road where Roe v. Wade is litigated yet again, from an optics standpoint, it looks a whole lot better to have a woman in that 5-4 decision rather than five men. I think that’s something that has to be a consideration for a Republican president,” said David Brody, White House correspondent for the Christian Broadcasting Network.”

Oh, Jeebus. The Xristian men are so cowardly that they want to send in a woman to take women’s rights away? You’d think in their treehouse that they would be arm-wrestling for who gets the honor? Since the Fall of Adam, those boys have been blaming The Skirts for getting kicked out of Paradise.

Cynical, you betcha, but this is what passes for cleverness with these guys.
And they have point, since there’s no real reason to suppose it won’t work, is there?

The cynicism is their responsibility, but the fact that they keep getting away with it is not.
