You WILL improve your posture!

Oops! Wingnuttia taxed the Theocrats:

“Republicans have quietly imposed a new tax on churches, synagogues and other nonprofits, a little-noticed and surprising change that could cost some groups tens of thousands of dollars.

“Their recent tax-code rewrite requires churches, hospitals, colleges, orchestras and other historically tax-exempt organizations to begin paying a 21 percent tax on some types of fringe benefits they provide their employees.”

So much for the Prosperity Gospel.

Anyway, you know the Billions for Billionaires bill? In their haste to write it and pass it, they forgot to check it for the usual bribes and honorarium, and lo! They taxed their patrons to help pay for the billionaire’s tax relief: they forgot to make the difference between for-profit and non-profit entities. So EVERYONE now has to tax the fair market value of the fringe benefits.

Personally, I’d leave it, but bet me that there will be a scramble to give the Churches back their break. But I’ll be surprised if they go for the rest of the non-profits (unless it benefits the GOPers themselves).

Also. Too. When the time comes, will they scramble to save the farmers?

Taxing Churches. what a novel idea. Except it’s income for the organisation that needs the taxing. Still I am for this also. Too bad it’s ‘this administration’. King Midas in reverse. This was a good thing, of course it will be repealed.

The megachurches and their millionaire “pastors” will easily absorb it, the storefront churches and struggling congregations will have to close up. In other words, another regressive blow to the poor like sales tax. Even when they “tax the churches,” Republicans benefit the rich.

For those who haven’t been staying in touch with my blog, here’s the latest. On Sunday night, I was in a car accident serious enough to total my car. This comes at a really bad time as we don’t have the money for a new used one. Pictures are shown that I took at the scene of the accident. But any help would be deeply appreciated. Hey, at least I’m not asking for $65,000,000 for a brand new private jet like Creflo Dollar. But since Mrs. JP was recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure at the ER last week, I have no way of getting her to the cardiologist to whom the ER doctor had referred us.
