I thought maybe I should explain our Fashion Week post from last night. You see, Mel, our First Lady, visited some of her husband’s child hostages yesterday.
Mel visited a facility housing 12-17 year-olds, as crying, traumatized toddlers and still-nursing babies are not the optics the former soft-core model was going for. And speaking of optics, here’s the jacket Mel wore for her fashion shoot walk to the waiting helicopters:
FLOTUS spox confirms Mrs. Trump wore a jacket to visit border kids that reads: “I really don’t care. Do you?” Spox says: “It’s a jacket. There was no hidden message. After today’s important visit to Texas, I hope the media isn’t going to choose to focus on her wardrobe.” pic.twitter.com/Bp4Z8n455G

…to which one lone voice replied:
Damn right there is no hidden message, it’s spray painted on the back of the damn thing. https://t.co/X5WNst1v9I

One can argue that the coat is just a coat, and in fact Mme. DeFarge’s media flak Stephanie Grisham said just that in a disdainful statement.
“It’s a jacket. There was no hidden message. After today’s important visit to Texas, I hope this isn’t what the media is going to choose to focus on.”
No reports that Grisham screamed, “Leave Brittney alone!,” afterwards, but we can speculate. Anyway, the statement falls kinda flat in that Mel wore the jacket on her return trip, even after the public outrage over her snotty $39 couture raged on.
But you know, Mel is a mom, and has feelings too! And looking at the bright faces of the the kids—and Future Dreamers?—whom her Administration has no way of reuniting with their families, she wished them “good luck!” on her way out the door.
