Blue Dogs To The Rescue of the GOP. Again.

“Which dimension am I in today?”

The Hill:

“Two Senate Democrats came out in support on Monday of confirming CIA Director Mike Pompeo as the next secretary of State, giving him a jolt of momentum ahead of vote later this afternoon on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

“Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.) said they would vote for Pompeo, becoming the second and third Democrats to announce their support. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) announced her support on Friday.

“They would give Pompeo more than enough votes to win approval on the Senate floor, even if he gets another GOP “no” vote.

“Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is the only Republican expected to vote against him, though Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who is battling brain cancer, is almost certain to miss the vote. Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) is also undecided on Pompeo.

“If the Senate’s other 48 Republicans vote “yes,” that would give Pompeo 51 votes with the three Democrats. “

Once again, we are wondering when we will have some Democrats from the Democratic wing of the party.

If you are wondering why we have Schrödinger’s Senator, the physics paradox known in this dimension as Rand Paul, a man from the multiverse where anything is possible including being elected in the 2016 Goat Rodeo and being elected to the Senate or both or neither can happen at the same time or never, illustrating this post, it is because his NO vote is more Democratic than three Dim Senators.

What a world.

UPDATE: Read all about it. Also/too: as I noted in the McCaskill post below, in order to advance any of our legislative priorities, it means we have to have the Blue Dogs. This post (and others like it) are not intended to discourage anyone in these states from supporting the Democratic candidate. Participate in your elections, people, and perhaps at some point we can have BETTER candidates.

Jeff Flake, a Giant of the Senate, is undecided, eh? He voted for that dumbass tax bill, he’ll vote for Pompeo.

Both Flake and Paul flipped. Forget anything Flake ever said as a criticism of Trump and fellow Republicans. He’s a coward and a liar.

There’s a better chance the tribble on Rand Paul’s head votes with the Democrats than he ever will.

Don’t forget the other 46. And don’t forget that every single one of them was a reliable vote during the ACA repeal fight, tax “reform”, and almost everything else since Trump took office. We can count on most of them all of the time, and all of them most of the time.

The last thing we need right now is to be spreading cynicism and both-parties-are-the-same talk right before the election.
