You do know that the Willys-Overland Motor Company was the manufacturer that supplied Jeeps to the US Army from WWII onward. The company re-entered the civilian market after the war, was acquired by American Motors in 1970 and AMC subsequently formed a partnership with Renault then was bought out by Chrysler, who discontinued all AMC models except for the Jeep line. In 2014 the Willys trademark was baught by an Italian corporations which plans to revive the brand with the Willys AW 380 Berlineta model.

When I lived in Chicago, I had a neighbor who owned a fully-restored Willys 1948 Jeep. It was fun to drive.

  4. Papa Wheelie says:

Back in the late seventies I had a 1955 Willys station wagon with a 327, two speed axle. At 2500 rpm I could be going either 80 mph or 3. I literally crawled up a steep rock incline (forward and reverse) that a brand new Toyota Land Cruiser had to get a running start to get three quarters of the way up. Monster.

She can dance a Cajun rhythm, jumps like a Willys in 4-wheel drive.
She’s my Summer love in the Spring, Fall, and Winter.
She could make happy any man alive.
