Midday Palate Cleanser

I’m not a big fan of hot tubs or other communal bathing opportunities, but I could watch this for hours.

Hummingbirds are amazing. Here in the West burbs of Boston we have a pair of Ruby Throated that raise a brood every summer. We are entertained by the fledglings in July and August with aerial acrobatics that defy gravity, zooming around at top speed chasing each other and stopping on a dime. We have been treated more than once watching one take a bath in an oscillating sprinkler. They follow the water as it moves, flying forwards in one direction and backwards in the other. They are fearless and very curious, coming right up within a foot of your face and checking you out. Lovely little creatures.

Wow. That is awesome. I want one of those bird baths.
Although they slightly trigger my mosquito PTSD, I still love listening to them zoom around.

“Hey, Ollie, did you just get me in the behind? I love ya man, but, jeez! Damn, it’s a sword match!”
I sure wish we had more of these here in Reno. LOVE ‘EM!!!!
