Why it only seems like just the other day that Comrade Stupid was telling us that he was looking forward to having a nice chat with Bob Mueller, under oath, and now we learn that Stupid’s mean ol’ lawyers won’t let him:
“His lawyers are concerned that the president, who has a history of making false statements and contradicting himself, could be charged with lying to investigators.”
As a public service, we will translate from the NYTimes weasel-speak:
“Sweet Jeebus, No! You think we’re as stupid as our imbecile client? Dude isn’t able to tell you his favorite color without lying. Dude lies so often Elmira Gantry Huckabee-Sanders is in awe. Dude hold the land-speed record for lying.”
Which really comes down to our next crisis: will Mueller subpoena Preznint Comrade Stupid? The SCOTUS ruled 9 to 0 in Jones v. Clinton that presidents are not exempt from civil lawsuits.
While it is true that a subpoena to appear before a Grand Jury is different from a civil lawsuit, but one might think that it counts as a legal precedent; if Preznint Stupid or his lawyers decide to fight it will land on the SCOTUS to decide. Majesty of the law and all that rot, but they a 5-4 advantage and most of that 5 are sycophants to their party, and you can bet that Gorsuch took a Trumpian loyalty oath.
