White, Like She

Scissorhead Purplehead sends us this important, behind-the-scenes look at how Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, the highest ranking Republican woman in the house, celebrated MLK Day in Spokane Washington.

(Couldn’t be whiter if Tilda Swinton was throwing mayo at a Yeti in a blizzard in overexposed black and white photo.)

The census of 2010 tells us that Spokane is 86.6% white, so maybe she just couldn’t get anyone from missing 14% to join her Republican friends? Or maybe they were where she wasn’t: at the Grand Opening of the The Martin Luther King Jr. Family Resource Center in Spokane.

Odd that she didn’t go. I do wonder why.

Oh, hunh, according to that Faceplant entry, that “Unity” U-ain’t-t[hank ]y[ou] Dinner was held on January 3. But I bet she had another one where the Whitey Group helped her compose the bloated hypocritical blather she sent out in her I-do-too-love-MLK email. E.g.,

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a moment for us to reflect on a man who changed the course of history. Dr. King taught us to dream of a better tomorrow, to respect our neighbors, and to love one another. His legacy has been weighing on my heart all throughout the last year. Today, I was honored to join and offer remarks at the Spokane Martin Luther King Jr. Day Event. I was reminded that we can all pledge to be better neighbors and to build up our communities when anger and fear threaten to divide us and tear us down….

Ad nauseam. That’s just the first of seven paragraphs of maundering twattle.

She’s a piece of work. Oh right. She’s Republican.

I checked the report for the MLK Center: she’s not mentioned. Nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Bupkis. Not even a ceremonial statement from her office.

How fantastic would it be to have lunch in a shitty diner with Tilda Swinton!
It would be like achieving Nirvana

Maybe some of the servers are black, so it’s OK.

The servants…er, African American population in Spokane is mostly comprised of the following: A.) AF personnel on the nearby SAC base, and B.) Gonzaga students (both undergrad & law schools.)

I was there with my (first) wife while she was pursuing JD – didn’t see one African American for two years, and I worked at a (then) popular restaurant in downtown Spokane.

(Should also remember –Idaho’s new hate laws aside) that ~ 40 miles away, starting at Coeur d’Alene/Hayden Lake, was/is the center of the Aryan Nation.)

From having grown up just outside of Spokangeles – there is nothing wrong with it that a massive meteor strike couldn’t fix. While Boise is surrounded by morons, imbeciles and other common clay of the new west, Spokane has taken it to heart. Ugh.
Those people actually thought, in 1994, that if they replaced the Speaker of the House (Tom Foley – D) with a Republican, that the freshman (George Nethercutt) would then become Speaker.
Sure, Idaho is bad, but hell, it is Idaho. I just expect better from Washington.

What was on their menu on MLK day? Fried chicken and watermelon?
