The Bridge to Nowhere, Redux

White people motoring.

Fresh from putting the tax whammy on the poors, Zombie-eyed Granny-starver and notorious Ayn Rand Fanboi Paul Ryan turns his zombie-eyed gaze to shitting on the poors again with reforming “assorted welfare programs.”

Take it away, Tiger Beat!

Speaker Paul Ryan’s dream of overhauling the nation’s entitlement programs in 2018 will soon run into a harsh reality: His own party isn’t on board.

The Wisconsin Republican has detailed an ambitious effort to dramatically reshape Medicare, Medicaid and welfare programs that the GOP has long targeted as ripe for reforms. But bring it up with key Senate Republicans and House GOP moderates and they blanch — seeing a legislative battle that may not be winnable and that may not be worth it in an election year where control of Congress is up for grabs.

However, amply be-chinned Mitch McConnell is not keen on starving the poors in an election year:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has all but ruled out the idea, saying publicly that he doesn’t expect to see welfare and entitlement changes on the agenda next year, particularly if it’s done in a party-line manner.

“The sensitivity of entitlements is such that you almost have to have a bipartisan agreement in order to achieve a result,” McConnell told reporters at a news conference last week.

You knew that Comrade Stupid would decide to helicopter in to save the day, amiright?

So what about it? CNN, Take it Away!

The plan the President is expected to announce in January won’t be a formal piece of legislation, officials said. Instead, it will provide the administration’s principles for infrastructure reform that lawmakers can then craft into a bill.

Oh. Another single-page, double-spaced list? With the details to be left up to ZEGS and the turtle (worst band ever)? Expect midwest industrialist Ryan Industries to get a contract to build a new bridge to nowhere, and perhaps somewhere in Kentucky Ol’ Mitch will have some new blacktop put in on his driveway to the Elaine Chao National Museum of Grifting, er, stately McConnell Manor.

Comrade Stupid does not have a plan and he doesn’t even intend to ask Congress for the $1 trillion he promised during the campaign. His suggestion is that Congress puts $200B Ameros on the table, and states chip in another $800 billion Ameros.

Seriously. Where are the newly tax-starved states gonna get that kind of serious cheddar?

I’m still predicting that Comrade Stupid is going to sell off privatize as much as he can to his family. Expect Main Street to become a toll road leading to Ivanka’s Little House of Fashion.

Last word goes to Chuck:

…Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said that Trump’s infrastructure campaign promises “are crumbling faster than our roads and bridges.”

My state just passed a sorely needed and long overdue transportation reform package to start dealing with the backlog of maintenance and repair. It’s paI’d for at the pump and vehicle registration.
Of course idiots and Republicans are circulating petitions to get repeal on the 2018 ballot. I expect that the solution must involve privatization and toll roads-that we won’t own.
